Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
..awhile ago I posted about trying to get Amy and Jonesy to be pals. The first attempt ended up in Jonesy clunking poor Amy on her noggin with his beak.

So tonight I gave it another try.. I got Amy on her "perch stick" and sat down on the floor with her while The Cockatoo Man was on his rooftop, hopping and jumping and just being a cockatoo.

Amy WANTS to be friends..she sat on her perch, alittle fluffed up,but she was talking to him lol..she actually knows who he is.She was saying stuff like "Hi bird" and "pretty bird" and actually said "how are you"?
Now you need to know..she RARELY says these things otherwise.so I am confident she knows who Jonesy is.

So I sat maybe 6 to 8 inches away from his house, while he came to the edge, stretching a bit to get closer to her. I kept Amy far enough away, just incase he decided to be a little brat and try to clunk her again!

While we sat,and I talked to him and Amy,he let me scratch his head, all the while Amy was calm and mumbling Amazon stuff. Even tho she was fluffed up and her tail was spread, she and Jones let me scratch her head also.

He was looking at me and her, with his little beadie eyes and doing some screeching and was saying "ca-mere..ca-mere" but I didn't bring Amy any closer in fear he was just playing us and would clunk her again lol

I guess I'll keep at it..It looks to me Amy really wants to be pals. She doesn't make any aggressive moves towards him,but I am still leary about him.

Just keep doing what your doing, and trust your gut. Goffins are sneaky little birds and amazons take offense easily and hold a grudge for a LONG time. I'd keep them at a distance until you feel they are ready, IF that ever happens. My moms amazons do NOT get along with my dads goffin, never have. Amazons are usually pretty accepting of their own kind, but it's hit or miss with other species.

Kiwi..awhile back I had a friend and her DYH 'zon live with me. Shainna <the DYH> and Amy did NOT get along!..We know Shainna is female coz she has laid eggs before < I think she was in her late 20's when she was here> and Amy tried in vain to "get into her feathers" lol..maybe Amy is really AMOS??

At any rate, Mariann had to remove Shainna from the house because she started to get aggressive towards her

That's why I said *usually*;) Individuals sometimes clash, especially if there is any perceived mate-stealing:rolleyes:

Yeah, Goffins can be tricky and enjoy the element of surprise and thrill to your reaction after the event!!

Would be nice for Amy and Jonesy to get along, but do take it slow!
