Earlier tonight my GCC Mochi got more than the usual errant white underfluff feather lunging (she's nesty/hormonal/the dominant one) at Mango my Gold Capped while they were roaming around the couch as we all sat watching TV; she plucked out about eight feathers or so, all from around his left earhole (his ear coverts or auricular feathers), leaving that aperture sadly visible.:( There doesn't appear to be anything more than superficial damage that I could tell beyond the missing fluff, thankfully.

After putting her away, and soothing him a bit, I remembered I have this stuff that I'd purchased a while back (stored properly and so still good); however, besides apples and the like I don't really have much that's suitable (moistened or 'dry-oily') to sprinkle it on that he'll take to. Wetting a cashew and dipping it into a bit of the powder had him turning up his beak (or he could've also been not hungry...but he's always hungry for nuts!) Earlier today, prior to the attack, I'd thought to offe him some on his apples, but he didn't want as soon as he saw how the powder changed the look of the cut-up bits he was used to.

Any suggestions on how I can get him to ingest more of this powder over the coming weeks, to do what I can dietary-wise to stimulate the follicles to produce new growth? I will of course try to keep him from being attacked similarly again, and keep him as stress-free and happy as I can, despite his sometimes autistic-levels of obsessiveness (the reason he keeps getting attacked like this, now almost three winters on, is that's he's bonded to Mochi so he doesn't even want to be wary or away from her when she does this since getting pubescent/hormonal and being very territorial around my wife). Additionally if anyone has experience with it I"d appreciate hearing it. Thanks!

Bumping with a picture. Once I'd sprinkled some of the stuff onto a nutriberry, his goldenfeast-zupreem mix, and some cut-up apples, he took it to more this morning. I guess I will continue this routine and trust that it will aid in the regrowth process.

Aw, poor Mango!

I’ve used apple sauce (unsweetened) to mix in powders. My chop is also pretty finely cut, so I’m able to mix powder into it and it’s reasonably well disguised.

Thanks for the reply, Jen - I'll see if he'll take a small amount of apple sauce. He has been eating apple-chunks, so long as they're not thickly coated with the stuff. I've been sprinkling it on his dry food as well, figuring it can't hurt (tho it means I'll be cleaning his dry food bin out more often).

Other options are mixing with cooked and unsweetened oatmeal served at room temperature. Also consider mixing with jarred baby food - a variety very low in added sugar and sodium.
