So, progress with Rosie is going well. I have not gotten bitten since my last post
. I haven't been able to pet her yet. The first couple of days I didn't handle her, just sat near her cage and talked to her. Then she started putting her foot up and I would let her step up and she would try getting on my arm and stepping off over and over. Then I started handling her in very short sessions, always ending on a good note. The first couple of sessions she would act like she was going to bite but didn't actually do it. We have also been limiting the amount she sees my boyfriend but have not been able to remove him from the picture completely. Its just too hard to not have his help with them.
Yesterday was our break through, she walked up to me and asked to be picked up, which I did. She hung out on my arm while I did some stuff around the house. I don't trust her on my shoulder yet so I had to manage doing things one armed, always fun challenge. When my boyfriend did get home she gave him his face rubs while staying on my arm. When he put his hand up to her she didn't want to step up
. Today she stayed on my arm again.
I have been moving slow and on her terms. I have been letting her set her comfort level with me. I think I was pushing her to much and making her uncomfortable. Its a good start, we'll see if it continues, I'm hopeful.
Not the greatest pics, took them yesterday in really dim light.
