Vos Eclectus - male - Simon
YN Amazon - female - Lamont
Lamont is our 34 year old YN female Amazon - she has been on a seed diet all of her life - we got her 2 years ago and I have had no luck switching her to pellets until this past week. Our baby male Vos Eclectus Simon is on Roudy Bush but my vet prefers Harrisons....so I put both type of pellets in a bowl along with a tablespoon of organic no fat low sodium chicken broth and boom she started eating pellets - for 2 days I did this and she could not get enough - today I did not use the chicken stock and she is eating the pellets!!!!!!! Happy dance for me!!!!!! I have not given her back her veggies/fruits yet - I am going to wait a week or so just to make sure she continues to eat the pellets!!! I am taking the Zupreem and the left over seeds to the Humane Society tomorrow :)

Now my next project is teaching myself not to be scared of her beak - she is very sweet to my husband and me but I have seen what her bight can do to other people. I am going to start clicker training next week and teach her some tricks....wish me luck!

Fantastic...good work and good luck with the next project!!

Thats brilliant news:)

Good luck with the training and let us know how it goes:)

Congrats! Im going to try that with my ringneck!

Oh I am so happy it worked for you.
Bosley was eating pellets but not much, this really did increase the pellet consumption.
Once and I while I still give him some broth for a treat.

Congratulations! :-)

Well done!

Keep an eye on weight and droppings to make sure she continues to do well! If she has been on a bad diet for years, a sudden switch may be more harmful than good for her, so please keep a close watch on her through this transitional time!

I promise to keep a CLOSE eye on her....she lives in our family room so I am with her a lot!

Before she went straight to the pellets, I had been crushing them and blending them with her veggies and she was eating them so it has not been cold turkey :)
