Hello guys,

I've used a bug spray in the room because it was heavily infected with flies. I put my bird in the other room and covered it up and have sprayed the other room. I am wondering if someone can tell me how long I have to wait before it is safe for me to bring the bird back to this room? I have opened up the windows.

I used Hot Shot Ant and roach killer says it lasts for 12 months

Wow! Idk, I imagine you'll have to thoroughly scrub everything! That stuff is so toxic! You'll have to air it out during and after that. We've even eliminated all scents in the house and make our own household cleanser using vinegar and water. Hopefully someone will be here soon who has been through this before and can help you. Good luck and I hope your bird will be alright! !!

Whenever my house was sprayed for bugs, my birds were completely removed from the house and the entire house aired out at least for a few days before I brought my birds back in.

Safe to bring the bird back, try never.

I've actually serious. You literally just deliberately contaminated your entire household.

The best you can do is try to ameliorate the damage, and give me species of fly so I can get you something that is non harmful for next time. Yeah, I can pretty much kill/eliminate anything if it's insect non-toxically, mostly because I actually realized the possibility exists{science junkie-- I read pretty much everything).

My point being, never ever do this again.... Got it?

And for ants and roaches you want diatomaceous earth. It runs about eight dollars a bag US. Slices any waxy shelled insect to the point of dehydration caused death – nothing can live for more than three days after coming in contact with the stuff. The food quality diatomaceous earth is actually added to food to keep these kind of insects out. The worst thing that could happen is dry skin if you or a pet touches it.

And you might want a couple of those roaches around depending where you live – they eat bedbugs(which are also vulnerable to diatomaceous earth).

If you don't know the species of fly, maybe we can figure it out from a picture. Can you take one?
