Hi, we are going to foster, with intent to adopt a M2 that rescue says is size of a Timneh( haven't met her yet). She does not come with a cage.

We might be able to take a clean, large cage off your hands for a reasonable price.

Thank you

M2 the size of a Timneh Grey?? Miniature Moluccan  First, have you seen a pic? It must not be an M2 which are around the size of some large Macs.

That was my initial thought but could it have had some form of growth retardation?

But a Timneh which is quite a bit smaller than a CAG? That's an awful lot of difference even for stunted growth. Now I'm curious to see a pic :).

Edit: LuvJardines - I hope you don't take offense, as I'm not saying it's not a great bird, and not picking on anything you said, just taking the words at face value ;).

The size description makes me think of a goffins cockatoo...

No offense taken! They also have a goffin available, so I have to assume he knows the difference. He said she was vet checked, but from description sounds like groomed and weighed. Also said she's not a classic M2, that she is not a screamer, allows him to pick her up ( when I asked about the step up), isn't a attention hound. She is fully feathered, eats pellets etc. Said she was owned by a 80yo woman that recently passed. He explained her as a gem and unusual M2.

Maybe she's sick??? Any advice? I'm near Chicago, from a previous question.

Then maybe he doesn't know how small a Timneh Grey is ;).

Are you planning this foster sight unseen? Can you go visit her first? Do you at least have several clear pictures? JMO, but I wouldn't agree to do it unless I saw with my own eyes exactly what I was getting into. I am just afraid to take anyone's word these days.

Also, along with quarantine, I'd get testing for viral diseases PBFD and PDD especially.

I'm going to meet her this Wednesday. Thanks for advice, I will also have a typical Cbc blood panel done also. She is in his bird room with macaws and other too's which makes me think that is why she is so good or afraid if she is so small. He said she is escape artist also. If I meet her and something isn't right...

How does a person read reviews etc of rescues? Her pic isn't on rescue site either. To funny, the more I write, the more silly I soun, right?

No, you don't sound silly. The forum is the place to ask your questions.

Try googling the name of the rescue and see if there are any reviews? Or try Yelp or other review websites and see if you can find any reviews or comments about the place?

I'd also ask if they do any viral disease testing. Quarantine alone is not enough, and a CBC won't tell you if there is a contagious disease.

Definitely a U2 ;). Hard to tell from the pic if she's extra small, but she's cute.

Thank you Julie.... We have her home now and she is doing well. We are doing our best to set boundaries and a routine for her. Would you know how to delete this post for a cage? We got one. Thank you!

Great that things are working out well :). I'll close this thread now.
