Uglow had his annual last month and all looked great! But today, he was pretty bitey when I tried to put him in the bird bag for a walk. Sometimes he likes the walks, sometimes he doesn't. This was the most forceful I've ever seen him. He seems fine in general - eating, playing, snacking, etc... but his poop tonight was all water. No white, no brown. Just liquid. When should I take him to the vet? I think by tomorrow if it keeps up. I just don't want to be an alarmist!

The liquid part of the poop is urine and If she drank a lot of water she could just be producing a lot of urine. I've had my budgies "pee on me" without a solid part. If she is also producing poops with solid matter, too, I wouldn't be alarmed. Put a piece of plain white paper towel in the bottom of his cage and look at the color and consistecy of his poops for an overnight period. If all he's doing is liquid poop, I would take him to the vet. If he's producing regular poops, too, I wouldn't unless the regular poops don't look normal, meaning they have a formed semisolid feces part with a little bit of white urates and a liquid part that's almost colorless.

Thank you so much! I'll keep an eye on his poops and if they remain this way I'll definitely take him to the vet. He's very playful tonight, so hopefully that means things are good. 💜

You're a parrot pet for sure. I don't think another species (except reptiles) who has their human pets agonizing over poo! I check poo frequently. Any difference and plain white paper towels under favorite poo spot immediately! Observe and be alert. I also write down my concerns start times and duration. It stops the 'I think about xxxx and yyyy days or hours). In birds this can be important. God made them to hide weaknesses and illness. Continue to as above. Good luck.

I watch the poop often. haha. It's already normal again! PHEW!!! Thank you.

I tend to be on the better safe than sorry side and have definitely gone to the vet when it was nothing! I agree with the above - I’d monitor and see if it goes back to normal by tomorrow. If it’s only liquid for more than an hour or so I’d be more concerned. Just a few liquid can happen sometimes after lots of water or watery food, as others have said.
