So as promised, I have a few pictures of new arrival Baxter. She's a big girl weighing in at 531! I knew she was bigger than Tucker, but didn't realize by how much. Tucker is looking a little jealous and curious too. He flew to me to check out the new chick. I'm trying to keep a little distance between them so they can get to know each other and not have Tucker be possessive of me. Much rather they become comfortable with each other than have a turf war. So far, a pretty good interaction. We'll take it slow. I have a suspicion Tucker will fly over to check out Baxter's cage before long.

Congratulations Jon! Welcome home Baxter! She’s beautiful, I’m so happy for all of you! Tucker and Baxter look great together, I hope they become friends, failing that I hope they get along really well. Wonderful homecoming photos, the beginnings of a sweet journey.

I wish I could thank this post 1000 times, I am so excited for you all!
The pictures are all fantastic, but that last one just stole my heart.
Welcome home, Beautiful Baxter!

Welcome home, Beautiful Baxter!
Thanks! The last picture was Tucker attempting to monopolize ALL of my attention. Focus on ME Dad, not the pretty shoulder surfer over there! After that, he was getting really curious and trying to get to her. I kept them separated just in case.

Thanks for the beautiful updates! Personality shining through on both ! Might be a little extra junk in the trunk for Baxter girl ;) ;)! These parrots chose you! Abd obviously they made a great choice in you, many happy decades to you and your flock!

Welcome Baxter, she is a beauty! You're certainly wearin' the green today!!

Welcome home Baxter! She looks very happy sitting on your shoulder :)

What a great way to celebrate the GREEN! Irish eyes are truly smiling on all of you!

Very happy things are at least starting well. And, so well stated above! It truly helps that they choose you.

Thanks Scott. I can definitely get in to wearing this kind of green!

Bitter Sweet day though. Today would have been my Dad's 87th birthday.

Congrats!!!

Baxter is a Yellow-Naped Amazon? If I'm incorrect I apologize, I'm just not certain because she looks like a Yellow-Naped but she is MASSIVE!!! I actually love the Yellow-Naped Zons, they're such loving, affectionate birds, and I love that Baxter is larger than most of them that I've seen, usually they are about half that size! I'm jealous...I'm currently looking for either a Blue-Crowned Conure or a Half-Moon Conure, so every new parrot someone gets I'm jealous over right now, lol...

Thanks Ellen :) Yes, she's a yellow naped. She is huge. We weighed her before leaving the refuge so I have a frame of reference. 531 grams! She's been puffed up mostly, and I haven't felt around to see if she's good at that weight or if she's a little porker. I'm sure she's somewhat stressed with the new home and routine, so she's sleeping quite a bit today. VERY SNUGGLY when hanging out with me though. I'm in love already! It works out pretty well since Tucker is demanding attention too. I'll try to give her the once over to see if she feels too chunky next time Tucker lets me put him down hahahaha.

She was seen by my vet while she was at the refuge, but not sure how long ago that was. I'll be making an appointment for her soon anyway.

Other good info... We have her original sales receipt from previous/only other owner with a hatch date. She just turned 17 on March 1st!

Next order of business... She needs a shower, big time. Definitely starting to molt. I've been picking crusties on her head and neck for hours. She is so happy to have it done! Feathers on her chest are looking really beat as well. Maybe a good soaking will perk them up a little. Her paperwork says she likes to shower with people, so guess who comes in with me tonight :)

Welcome home Baxter you big beautiful girl, you’re gonna love your new life!

The love story of the year. And the St.-Patty's-Green-Day love story of the decade, at least. That's one happy parrot soul. What a feel-good story. THANK YOU!

Sooooo she turned 17 on the first of march and enjoys the first day with you on the 17th?
You guys make my head spin!

Lovely, lovely pictures- many happy days to you all. :)
