What an experience. Went grocery shopping for SHUGA my U2... I had the produce man smiling. And I bought all kinds of goodies..cranberries, grapes, yellow squash, zucchini , corn on the cob, kale, sugar snaps, mix of broccoli, cauliflower , and carrots...string beans and frozen mixed veggies and to show how tired I was I bought box of success brown rice. Hahahaha. Got out of the store and realized I didn't buy anything for Me..went back in bought some apples and a few other things and left. Thinking about where in the world was I putting all this..yep came home and cut up almost everything. I have to say this, if SHUGA doesn't like it I'm gonna eat healthy

Now to relax and give SHUGA some out time then fall out myself.

God bless

Shuga is going to be a happy too:)

Ali, wish I could say for sure. All the chopping I did and am cleaning it up from the bottom tray. She even managed to bomb us with a grape! By the way do you cut those in half? Hahahaha

I don't really think she is sure about veggies yet...I know one thing you can't by kale in small bags !!!! She looks at that strangely and that's even outside the cage...can ya tell I'm thrilled. Hahaha

Hopefully she learn..am now just steaming the frozen veggies for a tomorrow surprise with some brown rice. Then I also watched that Marc Morrone on feeding cockatoos.

I'm so green at all this. Even having one for so many years that would only eat a fixed seed and mixed dried fruits and veggies...never would she eat anything raw

But I'm still glad SHUGA is content with playing with her toys watching outside and my every once in a while bringing her out...I do that in the afternoon and towards evening so I can get my work done. Hopefully it will stay that way...trying really not to spoil her. Is hard..

Wish me luck. Thanks

God bless

I do cut any grapes in half but I have small parrots . The kale if it is inn a bunch you can tie a leaf to the cage or weave through the bars and let them pick at it. Also she is a vary young bird so it will probably take her a while to learn to eat all the different foods. Kind of like little kids. Cooked whole grain pasta goes over well. I use Barrilla Plus pastas because their made from various types of whole grains and It is the one both hubby and I like. Also on the recipie forum they have all kinds of recipies for birdybreads, chops and mashes that people make for their birds. Hope you like to cook:)

I have to say, one of the many positive outcomes that comes from having a parrot is that they help you eat healthy! (i could go for those cranberries right now) :)

Ali, I cook for my critters too.. I cook chicken brown rice and veggies..my crew hasn't ate canned food for over 40 years. So I figure SHUGA might start barking. Cause her feed dish is looking familiar :)

@BirdSqwark. LoL. Absolutely I'm willing to share..:)

Another interesting issue. I put a small (car size) shop vac along side Shug's crate cause she had food flying even beamed me ( and not up Scotty) with a grape. Let me tell ya it surely bopped me to "hello". LoL

Everyday is a new lesson...and I'm enjoying the beauty of these "Gems"...

I'll have to check out the bread recipe..but I'm going to make cornbread without the sugar as hubby is from Ms and our cornbread is not sweet..then I'll put those frozen veggies in that after I've steamed them. I'm gonna do the tiny muffin size so I can freeze them..

Best get busy. Thanks for your responses.

God bless

whenever i go to the store with my mom or dad i always buy veggies and fruit for my fids. well my parants noticed my picking up giant carrots and bunches of broccoli and they asked me why i was getting so much, i told them i was on a veggie and fruit ONLY DIET for the next 20 years. i dont think the bought it lol

the birdybread starts with a couple of pkgs of cornbread mix dry and then I add to it then bake in a large baking dish till done cool then cut into 1 inch about squares then freeze. I used to also make my own dog food. What kind of other critters do you have. I have a chiweenie that is 2 years old and a minpin that is 16.5 years old:)

Ali, I have two Rotties ..Zeke who is 8 and Abigayle who is 10 and my little Chinese Crested ..Ms Reba who is 16 1/2...and now Ms Shuga who is a U2 4mos old...

I saw the recipe using the Jiffy cornbread mix..wish they'd make one sugar free..but then I don't like the sweetners..oh my..any way that's a neat idea to put veggies in it.. I will use the tiny muffin tins as this way they pop in zip loc and only a couple at a time..

I'm so enjoying her antics and she's now trying to make my laughing sound..She certainly is entertaining and makes my longs days short..well not really cause I'm cleaning up her mess..hahaha..I told her today.."She's my compost bird and definitely Green" LOL

Again, I'm praying she stays sweet and I don't spoil her cause as for right now she looks out the window and keeps her self busy and I change times when I take her out..but she lets me work around the house..not happy with vacuuming..but neither am I LOL

Hopefully she'll start eating more veggies than wasting..I try keeping the pieces a little together so she can grab and eat...but wow that grape she flung it and bopped me in the head hahaha..

I'm sure you all have neat stories...as it gets really more interesting as the days progress..

God Bless
