It's t-5 days till Neytiri comes home... I'm trying to get everything ready at home...

Cage: set up and redy to go including extra toys
Playtop: need perch yet
Food: Get that Sat but always have fresh veggies around
Vet apt scheduled
House: throughly cleaned (all little stuff put away)
Newspapers: getting from my parents house
table top tree stand purchased
Daylight bulb ready to go
lots of cleaner/disinfectant

I feel like I'm missing something... ugh.. I hate that feeling.

any other suggestions or things I need to think about??

thanks

What kind of cleaners/disinfectants? Gotta be careful with that around the birds

Vinegar, Hydrogen peroxide, and simple green. I also have a steamer.

No matter how prepared we are, there are always things that we miss. I'm sure you'll do fine, and everything will be great. Good luck with your new baby.

I haven't used any Simple Green in forever.....How safe is that for around birds?

Forgot all about that stuff, used to use it all the time years ago.

From what I've been told it is very safe.

Highly recommend having a bird emergency kit on hand. At the very least get some Kwik Stop Styptic Powder to stop bleading Kwik Stop Styptic Powder at PETCO and a pair of Kelly Forceps [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Marcus-Uniforms-Forceps-Medical-Scissors/dp/B0012LKX4Y]Amazon.com: Kelly Forceps Medical Scissors: Health & Personal Care[/ame] in case you need to pull a feather.

Sounds like you are prepared! whos your vet? mine go to allentown animal clinic. they have a board certified avian vet and another vet there had to give my grey emergency surgery and did an awesome job. im practically your neighbor...i live near allentown! something great to remember is if you forgot anything...if you order from my safe bird store ground shipping is almost next day shipping for us because shes just in jersey.

I've heard there is a styptic gel; has anybody seen it? We had a few blood feather emergencies with cockatiels, but none with these two.

I use cornflour to stop blood flow...

I would also get some hand feeding mix just in case.. At lot of young birds regress, when they go to their new homes...

Small world. I'm across the river by Clinton

Toys...Toys...Toys... Make sure they are parrot safe. How old will Neytiri be? She will need some toys to learn how to play by herself. Simple cardboard tubes from toilet rolls/paper towel rolls are great for shredding. Some simple wooden toys are also great for chewing.

Neytiri is 18 weeks today. :) she picked out her own toys. Lol. She would fly to the wall of toys and just start playing with some. So I'd buy them for her. Yeah I'm going to spoil her.

Sounds like she's going to have a wonderful home.
