What are some of the mischievous things your parrot does?

I just had to zip tie my parrots grate into his cage. He was pushing the grate out, and tearing up the papers on the bottom of the cage. Some of his toys are still untouched. Apparently pushing out a grate is more fun.

I want to hear about other peoples parrots being mischievous to make myself feel better. Yes, I’m at that point

Don't know if you saw @bug_n_flock's thread, but my Fang has taken to shagging his vegetables. Worse yet, when Fang shags his vegetables, Jem then tries to shag Fang. And then Lovejoy zooms over there to break it all up whilst Peachie looks on in amusement!!

One of my budgies, Grant, used to carry items from my dresser back to the budgie cage. One day I counted eleven items in his cage, including, no joke, my wristwatch. I swear it had to weigh almost as much as him and I still have no idea how he managed that one! One of my new budgies, Buster, seems to be taking after his predecessor. Before I vacuum, I’m always having to pick up Bobby pins, buttons, paper clips etc that he’s thrown off the dresser

My budgie Elan picks up things much larger than she is and pitches them on the floor. She's a big girl for a budgie- about 60 grams- so she can move pretty big things. I have a 10x6x3 inch plastic container with their seed on top of the cage she shares with 4 other budgies that they feed from all day. I had just cleaned the room thoroughly and put fresh seed in the container for them. The room was super clean. I went to say goodbye to them Thursday morning before we went on a 5 day road trip and dear Ms Elan had pitched the seed container off the cage onto the floor! I didn't see her do it but she's the object tosser of the bunch so I know it was her. I had to revacuum the room, refill the container so they had food for the day and I had to put a weight in the container so she didn't just toss it again. I think she knew I had just cleaned and that we were l leaving and she wanted to make a statement.

This begs the question: Does anyone think our birds have any idea what we are doing when we are vacuuming up their messes and cleaning their cages? My budgies don't get upset when I roll their cages aside and vacuum and wash the floor under the cages. They don't care when I put the vacuum hose into the cage bottom to clean it. They just sit on top of rhe cage and watch. Do you think they aware of what I'm doing? Do you think Elan did that on purpose to make a mess?

My budgies seem fascinated with cause and effect. They seem to take great delight in watching how different items tumble and bounce across the floor! I think they just do stuff because it’s fun

This is the most amusing and annoying thing my CAG has done recently. My daughter obtained kitchen trash container. It had electronic lid, wave hand or item open. The closes. Originally we thought it was 'cute'. Nameliss learned where sensor was; wave beak, open, wait, close and repeat. I put a chair there for her 'play time'. Finally my daughter got upset because I kept making her replace the batteries. The lid was removed and put out of sight. Nameliss occasionally still checks to see for lid.

Well Miss Yuri can open most cages! She can even take clips off the cage doors.

Ona… where to even start? She likes to try and chew remotes, controllers, etc. She’s ripped the arrow keys off both my and my husband’s laptops. She knocks things on the floor just for fun. She purposely taunts one of my dogs from inside her cage! She’s a sassy cheeky little thing

When our dog Tinker was still with us, Salty used to call her in from downstairs or outside with a "Here Tinker! Here puppy!" in my wife's voice. And the dumb dog fell for it every time! At least he didn't laugh about it, which would have been the sadist feather in the cap! He has almost stopped doing that since she passed away, but every once in awhile he still says it, which really upsets the Mrs. (Tinker was her dog basically).

Charlie (who learned it from Redshift) likes to yell at the dog or the other birds while they're too loud to 'SHUT UP' . The funniest thing is that the other birds will stop singing when he does it!

Give the Mrs hugs. I have similar. Pup was here when I got Nameliss. She passed 10 yrs later. Over time the calling decreased. Now calling the dog is said rarely and in a soft voice. I get a hitch. Then I imagine that Nameliss is conveying gone but not forgotten thoughts.

Is there a mimicking pet out there that hasn't learned a way to say quiet? Shut up, shhhh, be quiet and more. Met an Amazon in a retired military household that yelled 'Stand down soldier! Stand down'. My just out of basic soldier daughter froze in mid step. My daughter got mad. She started telling the bird she wasn't. That bird then went through a variety of drill orders...stop and drop, give me 20 and more. The funny part was watching my daughter's muscles prepare to do the moves. The owner a retired drill sarge said any army uniform received orders. Other uniforms especially blues, USAF, police, etc got growls and puffy feathers. I was then reminded to avoid giving insults. With a parrot the question was when not if they'd come back to haunt and embarrasse you.

Every bird is a heck of a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Easily smarter than dogs. Had a nightmare once that the geekos outside my window 'cloned' a thumb substitute. They then turned on the water. I woke up heart pounding. My subconscious could've been warning me. But then again, I have a sci-fi, horror, fantasy addiction! In the middle of the night, in the middle of Kansas, daughter and I were on interstate driving to Nebraska. There wasn't a river, lake or stream nearby. We started listening to Peter Benchley's, The Beast. It has an ocean setting. We stopped car, in fear turned tape off and put in a comedy. Later we blamed the other. So if a sea monster could get me wide awake in Kansas why can't birds adapt to continue the job?
