What kind of things do you like to buy for your bird/s? I have a lot of products to upload to our site, but I want to focus first on what you guys really love to buy for your birds so I can make SteelyBird.com a great place for parrotforum members top bird product picks. Could you please comment and let me know - maybe even include a link to your favorite products? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I'd be interested in hearing feedback about great:
-bird cages
-toys
-food
-any other birdie stuff you like

Toy parts would be nice. Can't speak for everyone, but making toys seems to be something that's a pretty hot topic on here. Especially parts that are "harder to find" than wood beads and leather cord, like acrylic parts for foot toys and perhaps for creating foraging options beyond a cardboard box with shredded paper. Just personally speaking, but my bird loves untying knots and anything with little "things" inside toys he can't get at (baby rattles are a big fun one for him, he can play with those for hours).

I was wondering if you did in fact look into carrying Celltei bird carriers? I was interested in one on your site (a black and white bird carrier) I have been doing some further research into that particular carrier and it seems the perch is too small for my amazon, and can't be replaced with a larger one. From what I see, Celltei is the only manufacturer out there who makes an amazon-sized carrier with different perch widths so he could be comfortable for longer trips in the carrier.

P.S. I think it's great you're asking about what members want :D

I also think toy parts, skewers for fruit and veggies, toys that are already made, rope swings and boings:)
I also think it's wonderful that you are asking us:)

Thanks for the feedback on DIY toys, I never would have thought about that! Ill look into my suppliers and see if they offer what you mentioned. I did look into carrying Celltei products, but they only allow brick & mortar stores to sell their products unfortunately. I'll be bugging them in the future though! They are offering an affiliate program where I can link their stuff on SteelyBird.com, but the best bet to get the carrier for your bird is probably through Celltei at the moment.

Thanks Terry! I was curious...Let me run this idea by you. I want to try this out in the next couple months. I dont know of any company that is doing it, but I know bird owners love to spoil their birdies and constantly having to search for new toys and treats takes time. Here's the idea - A monthly subscription service ($20-30 range) where you pick your bird breed and get a nice box of goodies for the breed you selected. The box would include various toys, sample foods and treats, and other goodies.

Shane, I think that's a fantastic idea! I would love to get surprises for my fids, that is an awesome idea:) I would for sure be interested in something like that.
Please include us here in Canada:)

That would be a great idea! Just a thought, but you might want to go by size (XS, SM, M, L, XL) rather than breed though, as there are SO many breeds of birds out there (and I think I've seen most of them represented on just this site). Also, there can be a lot of variance in species sizes, like a yellow collard macaw (a medium bird) would not need toys as big as a hyacinth (an XL bird), but they are both macaws. However you do it though, I think it's a great idea to have a subscription and the price range your looking at is pretty affordable, even for people who have 3/4/5 birds.

right now I need lots of wood for Baby my grey and Rocky my Amazon they go through wood like no tomorrow

Is there the possibility of shipping to Australia?

Bundii, I dont think any time soon unfortunately :(. I just did a quick estimate for shipping a 10lb box and it was around $200 shipping to Australia from US. I think the real way to work around that is to have a whole bunch of toys shipped to a warehouse in Australia where packages could be created and shipped locally. (This would probably only be possible if there was a large amount of Aussies that wanted to subscribe). Im new to international shipping, so Ill be looking into though!

I know...I know....MASSIVE amounts of safe dye. :D

My big macs go through 2X4s as if their life depended on it. The hardware stores know me by my first name around here. :o

I cut and pre-drill all the wood myself, but haven't been able to find the dye I used to use to dye the wood. (I used to buy VitaCritter). And food dye only comes in wee small containers, and I need tons of them to dye all the wood I'm cutting on a regular basis. :54:

Definitely toy parts! I dont know about everyone else, but my heart feels so warmed the way dusty plays with toys that I hand crafted for him <3

More foraging toys...The harder the better. Charlie figures those things out in a matter of minutes or less...

This is a lot of great feedback. I appreciate it! Looks like Ill have to create a toy section soon on the site. Maybe even a DIY toy section.

Not to compare sites, but we use mybirdstore alot cause we can find most everything.

For foods.... the goldrnfeast mixes and Higgins or something similar. We feed these mixes as staple diet with Tops pellets.

I agree with toy parts, we get some items from there too.

I love the monthly surprise box, would definitely sign up for that.

For international shipping, have you checked into postal flat rate boxes, or they just too small?

I would definitely go for the monthly toy box program- maybe do a monthly "toy supply" program too? Or maybe just include random toy making parts with the other goodies??

I'd definately also be interested in the monthly toy box idea but being so far away, I'd unfortunately have to pass :( :(

I answered my own suggestion... just checked out usps.com and the international flat rate has a 20 lb limit for a large box and it was $76... better then $200, but still...

Oooh! I love that idea Shirre! I would totally be into a box of surprise toy parts! We do seem to love our toy making supplies around here :D
