Sun conure , greencheek conure
My Sun has been here over a week now.He hangs out at the front of the cage and acts like he is begging to come out.Maybe I am misreading his signals.
He gets near the top, squawks and flips his wings very fast like he is begging for something.
But as soon as I open the cage door he runs to the back of the cage.
Is he wanting out?? He does this several times a day.

How do I encourage him to come out?
I feel like we are at a stand still at this point.

Although your sun may not fully trust you yet, he want's your attention & like Grey mentioned maybe a treat would help with the trusting.....a week is not much time for some birds, I've had birds that took over a month & one time it took over a year to tame 4 sibling (but they were wild) sun conures to let me handle them without biting.....

Just be patient & he will come around.....

Kind of twitching them at the shoulders.

Okay I just didnt know if I should push him a bit by shooing him out.
I do give him treats, he takes them from my hand, Ive started clicking and treating today.
He also preens my hair and gently nibbles my forehead if I put my head up close to the cage.Guess he knows he's safe on the other side of the bars.
Anyway thanks I thought maybe I was misreading him.

Sometimes, coming *out* of the cage can be a scary thing! But they are ok interacting through the cage bars.
