Bowie the Green Cheek Conure
My green cheek Bowie, who is a year and a few months old has been doing this dancing jig while making little chirps for the past week or so. Most of the time she only does it for when she wants out of her cage or while I'm at work on her play perch on my desk, pointed towards the outside. I'm thinking maybe she's excited and really wants to go out? I'm not entirely sure, she has been doing this for the past 20 minutes consistently, but whenever I tried to record her she immediately stopped lol so I only caught a little bit of it! She actually went back to her cage just now to go eat anyways.

I'm thinking she wants to explore the outside, but if that's the case, then that's a no no right now because winter is coming and the cold weather is starting to hit. She does have a harness so she will be able to once the warmer weather comes back, but for right now I'm trying to keep her preoccupied with plenty of toys to chew on, foraging toys stuffed with her favorite seeds and she's out of her cage majority of the day unless she decides to take a quick nap.

Anyways, here's the very short video of her that I caught of her doing this little bobbing dance:

I'm pretty sure it's not regurgitating, I've seen her to that before and it looks different. The video isn't the best quality but she's moving her whole body up and down. I would've recorded it from the front but she stops whenever I record, but she doesn't do the distinct movement with her mouth open when she regurgitates, this is more like a dance.

My Quaker does that all the time when he is happy, your birdie is just having fun, head bobbing cant be a bad thing so don't worry but people on here will know more than me x

I thought my GCC was trying to help her food go down. But there are other times when she just moves closer to me and bobs her head and cranes her neck.

I agree with lord triggs it's attention seeking behavior. Clark does this all the time. It's not regurgitation, it's come pay attention or pick me up.

I'm relieved to know that it is a happy thing like I suspected, but I still believe she wants to go outside to explore since she's constantly facing towards the outside when she does this dance and always looking outside watching the other birdies. How am I supposed to help her with this? She spends very minimal time outside now, only when in the carrier crate when going to my car to go to work and she loves the very little time she gets to look around before being put in the vehicle. Although I'm going to have to start covering the carrier with a warm blanket so that will end soon too, it's saddening that winter is hitting soon and she wants to explore so badly knowing that her harness has to be put off until Spring.

Thank you everyone for your input on this! I really appreciate it :]

She will just have to wait. winter is winter. Believe me my clark is completely P.O.ed that he can't go on car rides or go outside right now but....in a few months.....

Yea true, it's very disheartening but that's life I guess. I suppose this means plenty of foraging toys in her stocking this year to keep her active lol

Ollie is also upset he can't go on outings anymore..the poor thing is just broken up about it!!! I'm actually in DC for 2 nights to visit a school for my son and I'd have taken Ollie usually and we'd go to all the monuments together and to lunch but it's sooooooooo cold. I had to leave him with trusted flock mate (my babysitter Crystal) and I'm really missing him badly and it's only been 12 hours. I tried to make him a sweater so he could travel but he hated it!!! Weird because he's fine with his harness. Pic of failed sweater attached.

I agree!!! My Nibbles does the same dance with the high pitched chirping when he’s excited [emoji172]

I love it! I start singing to him and he does it more!

Absolutely not regurgitating.
My GCC does the same thing when he wants something from me. Like when I am eating something or drinking water or when he wants to come to my shoulder but lazy to fly :D or wants to bite me but again lazy to fly :D:D It is shows that he is excited and wants to get your attention.
