Mine is grumpy when he's in the cage, once he's out, he's a sweetheart :) I just got him 2 days ago, and I started to love him already. He is not used to taking treats from my hand yet. Only took a dried papaya once. My friend suggested me to give him walnuts.. I will get some after work today :)

I would suggest you start your own thread. X-Breeder birds (especially a 20 y/o one) are a WHOLE OTHER ANIMAL than hand-raised babies. The advice on how to work with your bird is going to be very different than how this op should work with hers:)

Yours is NOT tame, should not be considered "pet quality," and may not readily accept being handled. You've taken on quite a project.

My new friend, and orange winged Amazon named Gus is such a fun friend!!! Got him a little over a month ago...like my dog, he is so happy when I come home after work. He only screams until he gets his kisses from me...he is stick trained and is on my shoulder a lot...still working on the hand....he is 10 years old...great kisses!! doesn't talk as much as I like but working on it. Cant imagine my life without him!!! Actually looking for another to add to my pet family"}

Tequila my BFA was my first zon [and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Him :)]. When my bird fever had started [ you see all my birds ]. Everything I read about zons turned me right off [I had no interest]. I don't know why when I read Tequilas ad on CL it interested me . I am so glad he came to live with me !! I would have missed out. Hes taught me how to read the rest of my birds too. He loves his head rubbed [could sit there all day ] He sings Opera and has quite the sense of humor .Hes the one I take out to soccer games and out to eat.He is harder than my female .But really I like how complex they are .Id say zons have almost a little bit of the qualities of all my other birds rolled into one. They get loud during hormonal time . Would I have a bunch of them [Yes I would]. I like the "Hot" Zons myself :)
