Well, the easy answer is keeping the doors and windows closed. And most importantly, know where the Parrot is when leaving and taking great care when you enter to assure your Parrot is not near the door.

If window screens are available in your area, have them installed.

Recall Training is near the top of the list just after Step-Up training.

Like with Step-Up Training, the goal is to assure that when you request a Step-Up, your Parrot lifts it claw and steps-up! When your Parrot is away from you, Recall, results in your Parrot fly's to you.

Glad you're thinking about this before it happens, parrotman29! Everything SailBoat said is right on point.

I'd also recommend those magnetized-mesh curtains (often seen in the south for porch doors etc) that close around you as you pass through, to disallow flying insects from coming in.

Parrot 911 helps return parrots, you can post there.
Also work on recall trsing in your house. Some parrots need to learn how to fly down from a high place, as if they haven't learned to fly well this is scary.
Put a little sign by each door, that says something like parrots safe?
When weather is nice, secure cage doors and feeding doors, bottom tray of cage a d roll it outside and sit with your parrot at all times. Nice for parrot and helps them learn not to freak if they get outside by mistake. There are also travel cages and packs , you an your birds can go for a walk,.

One time my lovebird flew outside. She likes to go to the window to sing, so I opened the top window instead of the bottom one day to give her a different experience, not realizing the top window didn’t have a screen! I went out on the deck and she was hopping around and then flew to my head and I ran inside. She hasn’t gone outside again, but I believe that she would come back if she did.
I didn’t know about recall training but I’ll look into that.
