What’s species is this little guy?

Hey guys!

So we just got this little guy yesterday. He’s got a cast on because his ligaments are torn! The vet gave us pain meds for him.

My question is, what species of lovebird is he? The closest I could find is a Fischers? The violet mutation?

How old is your new cutie? Some varieties don't get their full adult colors until their first molt. I definitely see violet color.

I just googled Fischer lovebird violet and he looks violet to me but Cobalt and violet look similar and he could be both violet and cobalt or cobalt. Very pretty little guy!

They said he’s about 6 months old. I figured he was older but I just double checked with the person.

Not yet! I’m trying to come up with something. He’s super sassy, he chirps so loud when I give him his medicine!
