worried, about my three week old baby quaker

okay I just bought a three week old baby quaker today who has splayed legs and a deformed back toe on his left foot.

we have already learned how to take care of the splayed legs and possibly reverse it.

but i'm worried do you think the deformed toe will cause him any issues as the toe is without a nail and is shorter than the others.

what do you think?

I'm glad you are taking care of the splayed legs. It can be fixed at this age. I would not worry about the toe. He's never known his foot to be any other way, I doubt it will bother him any. You should post some pictures of him here. Is he in a dixie cup? Thats how my vet fixed small birds with splayed legs and it worked every time. Good luck with him. Hopefully the handfeeding formula you are using will help with any dietary deficiencies that might have caused the problem.

I completely agree. At this age the legs can be fixed, If not completely than mostly. Pics would be great. The toe should not be an issue. He never had it so he would not know the difference. Birds that have had a toe bit off adjust and do just fine. Hope the feeding goes well. keep us updated and send some pics.

were using a coffee cup to help and a hobbel it seems to help him sit a bit and i just fed him and i'm fixing to upload a picture of him in his cup surrounded by towels

Very good. You may have to feed his a little less amount wise and feed him more frequently for a week or two. I have noticed that sometimes there is some pressure on the crop from the cup. So by feeding a little less more frequently you can avoid over filling him and possibly aspirating him (getting food in the lungs).

Don't worry about the toes.

I have an Amazon that got two of his toes bitten off and he does just fine. He can perch, climb, and hold things just like the other Amazon.
