Parrots
Goofy (YNA), Oscar (Goffin 'too). Foster bird Betty (RLA). RIP Cookie, 1991-2016 ('tiel), Leo (Sengal), Charlotte (scarlet macaw). Grand-birds: Liam (budgie), Donovan (lovebird), RIP Angelo (budgie)
I'm sorry for having so many questions. Leo is my first bird that I'm 100% responsible for. Goofy and Cookie are MrC's birds and he's had them for decades, and all their quirks, likes and dislikes are well established. Leo is new to us, and a different species, so there's all kids of questions.

A few days ago I was eating tuna casserole and Leo went nuts. He was on his perch and I'd given him some carrots and apples to keep him occupied, but as soon as I sat down with my food he went all agog at mine. He kept getting off his perch and trying to eat my food. I assumed it was the pasta he was after, but since there was mayo on it, plus I have no clue if tuna is okay for birds, I didn't let him have any. He was pretty insistent, and I had to put him back in his cage and leave the room to keep him from getting to it.

Yesterday I sat down with just plain tuna and salad trimmings. He made a beeline not for the salad stuff, but for the tuna. Again he went nuts, doing everything he could to get to the tuna before I put him back in his cage.

I can't find anything online that says tuna is okay for birds to eat (or that it's not okay). This is the canned stuff, not a fresh fillet. I'm not going to give him any unless I'm sure it's safe, and since I can't find anything online, I was hoping one of you guys might know.

Thanks. My google-fu sucks. I kept googling "is tuna safe for birds".

Blah.

He won't die from it.

(Though he might actually KILL for it!) :D

As away I am at work so my reply may have seemed short.

If he was a bigger bird I might actually be afraid of that last option! He seriously went completely ape-poo crazy trying to get a beak full of my lunch.

Try passing a cracker to a Mac only to have him drop it and the dog get it. The dog was smart enough to run and i was fast enough to fix another lol NOW THAT'S SCARY

Funny Sally story.

She's a cheese it! addict...

And her favorite thing was getting pushed around a store on the handlebars of a grocery cart. Except this particular store had a huge display of Cheese It! boxes... and I didn't stop and put any in the cart.

When I walked by it, without getting any, Sally threw such a LOUD hissy fit, like the FULL VOLUME AMAZON ALARM CALL - GGGGAAAAWWWK! GGGAAAWWWKKK! GGGGAAAWWWKKK! GGGAAWWWK!

We got kicked out of the store! :D

Now that's funny

For Tusk it's a plastic spoon with just a tiny bit of orange sherbert in the summer time...

I know. Too much sugar!

I don't give him that much... but DON'T EVEN try taking that spoon away until he's good and finished with it!

Yeah. That was a classic!

HEY! I LIKE THOSE... YOU DIDN'T GET ANY. HEY... YOU PASSED IT! WAIT! GO BACK...

She also used to "bombard" certain people she found interesting with Hello's.... and she'd get visibly pissed if they didn't stop and talk to her. And she was selective about it. She'd actually "choose" the people she wanted to talk to.

Goofy is our family cheese addict. That bird will do practically anything for cheese. He's been known to launch himself from his perch to the dining room table if there's shredded cheese out, and absolutely nothing will stop him from getting to it.
