Boy oh boy,
So my boyfriend and I agreed to take in another bird to own or just to foster to help out a rescue in our area. We have been considering a heavily plucked Amazon that's 28 that needs a new foster home - and we were thinking about just keeping her, because most likely, she'll just get moved around from foster to foster and never have stability. My heart was set on an African Grey, but I feel strongly about helping the bird most in need. Last night I got a list of all the amazons that need foster homes, just to double check one that would be a great fit wasn't overlooked. There were a few blue fronted amazons, but they were not the right fit. I was a little bummed - but oh well. Last night I get an urgent e-mail that a stray bird was found in my area and given to an animal shelter and needed vet care. She attached a picture. I was expecting a beat up scraggly bird. To my amazement, this is the bird my boyfriend and I saw - a gorgeous blue fronted amazon in perfect feather! The people who found it in their yard, wanted to keep it, but noticed it was sick. This is in my area! I offered to pick the bird up and take it to an experienced avian vet, but a more seasoned volunteer took on the task. Just waiting to hear more. Please check out the picture. Isn't he/she gorgeous?! Fate or what? :green:

The poor thing. I hope it can find its family.

Pretty birdy, looks in good condition which makes me think it might have a family

I have been searching and searching for someone looking for their lost BFA! It's injury is a prolapsed Cloaca (sp?) I'm wondering if it was being used as a breeder and when they realized it was injured they just let it go :( But is in good condition appearance wise. We will see what the vet turns up tonight. People around here do that - let birds go that are no use to them. After it's done at the vet, it's most likely going to be fostered with me, and I'll continue to search for lost ads. I hope someone does come forward, but if not, she'd be great in our flock.

Poor baby, keep looking for it's owners but don't give out too much info. Good luck with your new foster, she does seem a very pretty girl. Is she tame at all or is she really feral/timid?

How has the vet treatment been going? Prolapse cloaca can easily be fatal so it'd be nice to hear how that's going. Usually happens when a hen is straining too much to get the egg out etc. :( Poor baby!

Keep us updated on her anyway! :)

Good luck with this baby! Prolapsed Cloaca can be a bad situation. She's in our prayers. We recently lost a most beloved Budgie to a Prolapsed Cloaca.

She is beautiful! I hope she is doing better! Keep us informed.

She's beautiful! I wish her a speedy recovery.

Personally, I think birds that have plucked themselves naked look like babies, which makes them cute. Of course, I realize that it's better if they don't, but the plucking itself wouldn't dissuade me from getting it (other behaviors, maybe). I would totally take a plucker in, if I wanted another bird. There's a couple of super cute half-naked birdies at my local rescue that I love.
