I just got a little cockatiel that will be 11 weeks old tomorrow. My question is if my is yellow pied and dad is gray pied and the little one is gray pied does that mean it's a female? The breeder didn't know the gender and I'm just curious because I don't know what name to give it. Thanks

I've never heard this before, cockatiels must have had their first molts (around 6-8 months old usually) before you can visually tell their gender.
If you want to know the sex of the bird quickly you can either have your birds vet do a blood test or do one yourself, generally you have to clip one of you birds nails a bit short to where a few drops of blood barely come out.
You could give it a name that would be good for a male or female if you wanna wait.

I guess I was thinking of the bourke parakeet. I decided to name it coconut. I like that name and it works for either gender

Your bird needs to have her/his adult moult.
Look under the adult tail feathers, females have a banded pattern on them, males are always plain coloured. This works with just about every mutation and also standard wild birds. The feathers must all be in place, as not all the feathers are banded, the bottom ones are, with the upper tail feathers usually unpatterned.
