I reenlisted in the Army and am leaving for 13 months very soon.

I have to re home my Hahn's Macaw . Shamrock is a mini-macaw, but don't let the size fool you. She has a lot of personality and pizzazz. She says about a half a dozen words, makes kiss noises, mimics water dropping, whistles occasionally too. She will go "poopie" on command. She even laughs when she hears others doing so. She does prefer men. She tolerates women, but will gravitate to men when given an option. She does NOT like children. This is why her previous (and only other owner) had to part with her.

She is approximately 12 years old, in full feather, and eats Zupreem pelets along with assorted fruits/veggies/pasta/chicken. She has her own nice quality cage. It's about 40"x24"x36". It's quite large for a relatively small parrot. Has a play stand on top as well. Skirt guard catches falling food.

I honestly do not want to part with Shamrock, she's very affectionate and amusing. She sits on my shoulder and loves to be scratched on her head and under her wings. I want her to go to a loving home.
She will come with the cage, which I will pressure wash before pick up, toys, perches, almost full bag of Zupreem, and treats. If you are able to give Shamrock a great home please contact me and we will go from there. Please do not waste my time.

DO NOT know how to add pictures but I have some and will happily send.

***The re-homing fee is $350.***

I am located near Masterson Station on Leestown Road.
Thank you.

Hi, I wish all the best to both you and Shamrock :). The 'best' way to upload pics is to use Photobucket.

Shamrock sounds like a great birdie, almost worth a drive t the bluegrass state from NY. Good luck and make sure she gets a great new home. And thank you for your service.

First, thank you for your service and second, have you considered seeing if someone could foster Shamrock while you are gone? Is there anyone who you trust who would care for her? I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to get that question answered here [Mods?] but if you don't have someone you already know who could help and you'd like to throw the question to the forum's parrot lovers to see if someone could foster . . . I just hate to see a permanent separation while you are serving your country.

[If you are serving in the U.S., you could also check the location & look for a foster local to where you will serve, where you could see Shamrock occasionally . . . I know a local-to-me rescue that boards parrots for folks temporarily working nearby. That's another option.]

Best of luck.
