Does anybody have a raincoat........

So Bundii has just decided that she was going to have a bath right before dinner. There is water from one end of my house to the other. Who would have thought that such a small bird could get that amount of water everywhere. She used all 3 water bowls and just about emptied each one. Well I guess after dinner I will be mopping the floors.

Re: Does anybody have a raincoat........

What *I* want to know is, how do you get Bundii to use a bowl for her bath?

The Beaks behave as if I'm trying to send them to Davy Jones' Locker if I try to put them in/near a bowl of water. Instead, I have to follow them round like a mad thing, misting them with a squirt bottle. They haven't quite gotten the idea that sitting still on the side of the sink would be a huge help! Instead, they run up my arms till I'm effectively showering my own head. If I stop, they squawk and fluff themselves up at me, posturing with their wings spread as if I were seventeen species of dolt! So, I keep misting, misting, misting until, like you, there's water from one end of the house to the other. There *has* to be a better way!?

Re: Does anybody have a raincoat........

Well Trish I am not sure how we get her to bath in her bowl. She just always has - from day one. It was kind of like sleeping in the happy hut, she just does it. It is funny though, she hates the shower, is still getting used to the spray bottle and will only bath under the hose if we are at my mums house. They can be strange creatures and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Usually when I vacuum the house she has to have a bath at the Sam e time and she always uses her bowls. We have tried giving her a bigger bowl so that she fit her whole body in but will not have anything to do with it. She will jus dip her feet in first and the. Her beak and the. She will just stand in the water and flap about which is hard to do when your body is almost bigger than the bowl. I will try to get it on video next time she bathes as the water just goes everywhere.

As I said the thing that I have most luck with is the vacuum cleaner. It Almost always makes her have a bath. So I have to be careful in winter if I vac at night time because she will bath. That's the other thing, she loves the water to be freezing but then loves nothing better than to do blow dried. She is one crazy bird.

I reckon the process of washing and drying an Alexandrine parakeet is the funniest sight in the bird world. They look *so* comical, all fluffed up and with their beaks pointing to Heaven! Please give Bundii very best wishes from Barney and Madge, won't you?

Tango loves showers. If your birds don't like bathing in a bowl try running the shower while holding your bird off to the side and letting the water hit off your hand onto the bird. Tango loves it, she spread the wings turns around 360 degrees to make sure everywhere gets clean. Tango clearly thinks bath time should always be bird time.

Re: Does anybody have a raincoat........

Nimbus will only willing bath outside under the hose, and I have to have the multi head thing on set to mist, so I don't get water through my house, but she WILL NOT bath any other way.

Yeah haha it's the mist they like. Too big drops of water and they freak out when it drips on them.

You're a liar! That's exactly what I said about my bird. You likely don't even have a tangobird. Get your own bird anecdotes!
