Merlin Pics

I'm messing around w/my moms camera & wanted to see what the shots would look like online. I'm afraid she may have got moisture between the lens & the glass front. Ideas to improve the shots would be appreciated.

take the shots with light coming from behind you,

if camera has a removable back leave it open in a warm dry place

an aww merlins lookin like a star

For your pictures. I have a couple of pieces of advice, since you asked.

First is the focus. The camera is focusing on the background rather than Merlin. Using the auto-focus the camera has to guess where the focus should be and it does that by using a focal point inside the camera sensor. When shooting the picture look at the the lcd screen on the back and make sure your target is in focus. Generally you do this by holding down the button halfway to force the camera to focus. Repeat that until you get the focus you want.

The lighting. The camera taking in the whole picture then running the image it sees through an algorithm then sets the shutter speed and the aperture (opening) of the lens. Since there is an open window behind you subject the camera is getting the exposure all messed up so Merlin is too dark. To fix is easy, don't let the window be the background. Move the side and let the light be on the side or in front of the window so the light is behind. (There are other ways, but just moving is the easiest).

Finally, just get a little closer. The subject is Merlin, so he should be the dominant item in the frame. We see a lot of window, chair, wall, air filter... all of that distracts from Merlin. Zoom in using the zoom feature of the camera, or just walk closer.

Great advice and all the things I was thinking....I love close ups and I would love to see a different color behind him just for fun...even if it was just white...his colors would be stunning against a white background....can't wait to see more pics....

I have some more, this camera is a combo that has auto everything, I still don't think I have the settings correct. But they do have proof I'm making headway w/merlin eating veggies. He came out of his cage today & devoured 1 strawberry, celery sticks & working on broccoli now. I feel like the new mommy who is bragging on their baby's poo.

Good boy Merlin....making mommy so happy.....I like that in the picture, his head looks the same color as that dish...LOL

Still playing w/the camera, this one is a little better. The camera has a glass in front of the lens & Tom thinks there is moisture or distortion from moisture behind that glass. I really need to just buy a new camera.

You know I bet Merlin and Sampson would be nothing but trouble if they had a play date lol. He has the same look on his face as Sam. Also loves the same acrylic binky lol.
