No band, what does that mean?

I didn't even think to look when we adopted our yellow naped last week, but now I see that Shamus does not have a band.

What does this mean?

I really don't know his history, and I dont care much. He's sweet (but not cuddley...again not an issue) likes all of us, and calm. I'd take him again just because he's such a cool bird but now I wonder what his history really is! We were told he was a 6 yr old male, but if he starts talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis I'll know that's not the case, haha!

Nothing in particular, really.

It could mean that the breeder didn't band him, or that he had a band but it has since been removed.

I think the bands are mostly used by breeders breeding lots of birds... If you have many pairs of one species you'd need to be able to identify the chicks, otherwise you would not be able to sell unrelated pairs...

Lucky him finding you !!

After he has bonded the behavior will change, and normaly even more fun and often if working on it he will be cuddly etc. So just keep up the good work and you will have a frind for life. Good luck

Regarding the missing band, it meens nothing. I have a DYHA and do the CITES it is important that he has a band

Ok, thanks! Even if his behavior doesn't change, he's still a great guy. If it gets even better, that's great too!
