Monty the Blue Fronted Amazon
We've had Monty, a Blue Fronted Amazon, for about 6 months. He's about ten years old, we rehomed him.

He's very vocal but recently he keeps screaming. He isn't particularly fond of me anyway, (he seems to prefer my male family members) but he now sometimes screams over me when I talk in the room.

It's becoming more frequent. So far I just keep leaving the room if he starts screaming and then he stops.

Does anyone know why he is doing this? And what I can do to stop it?
Is covering his cage a good idea? I feel bad if I do it!

Thanks!
Becky :green:

Not much help here, but our female amazon does the same thing. She knows how to talk and does so perfectly well, but when I am trying to talk to someone she will scream every time I open my mouth and go to say something. She doesn't always do it but it is quite frustrating when she does, it makes it so I can't even think straight and I end up forgetting what I was saying lol. The only thing I've found that helps is walking out of the room. I try not to give her any attention when she does it, I just simply point to the door and we will walk out, continue our conversation and then come back when she settles down. Hopefully she will learn that talking over people isn't the way to get attention.

Hi Becky,
Codie my YC Amazon started screaming like that about 3 weeks ago now.... She does it when I go out of the room!! For the last week when she does it I just totally ignore her and carry on with what im doing, not even looking at her... I must admit yesterday and today she has not done it so much!! So im hoping the ignoring is working :D Its letting her see that her Screaming for me is NOT going to get her any attention fom me what so ever.. Hope this helps :D
