Re: OMGOSH you guys won't believe this !!

Ran into a similar situation locally, lady had an ad for a cockatiel stating he was aggressive, had started plucking and desperately needed a good home for him. I messaged saying I couldn't afford the purchase, but had 10 parrots at the time and could take care of him, bond with him and tame him, giving him a good home till his last day among the living. She freaked out, started saying I didn't have a "compatible female for him, he is hormonal and not aggressive, but not hand tame. She claimed to be a rescue and rehab facility after I made her aware that I did infact have a female cockatiel and told me she needed the "rehoming fee" to support her other birds, but then donated him to a parrot store, now that store is closing and he is up for sale, again. I've since seen her try to rehome 12 more birds, everything from not tame, to completely plucked, blind, sick ect.

Re: OMGOSH you guys won't believe this !!

I just wanted to mention after seeing all these posts about birds needing rescue, and the conditions some are living in. I read that 75% of all large parrots are rehomed time after time through at least 10 homes. Probably parakeets and other smaller birds face the same fate.
