Cockatiel- Kalypso
I have a five month old pied cockatiel named Kalypso :yellow1:. I will be abe to give her attention from 6-9 at night and 20 or 30 minutes before I leave to school. I was wondering what other bird besides another cockatiel that could be her playmate and possibly hopefully her cagemate?

I just introduced my cockatiel to my flock of green cheek conure, lovebird and two budgies. :) They get along pretty well and try to entertain him all the time (sometimes too much, LOL). I'm rather new to tiels as well, but I noticed that they are rather quiet and not as active as many other species. I heard that tiels do well with budgies, but mine are very afraid of him, although they already dare to eat from his food dish.:D Let's see what other members say...

Best practice is to not have different species as cage mates for multiple reasons. Such as different needs activity levels and as with any bird different personality types. Also I have always heard parakeets/budgies are typically the aggressor in fights and if your not home how are you going to be able to stop an attack also you need to quarantine new birds. If your worried just about its loneliness and that's why your looking into another bird you can go on bird.con or drsfostersmith.com and order a mimic me toy set it to record one day and have it play back the next day. They are a bit expensive but cheaper than a new bird.
