A noble cockatiel named hohenheim!
Once we get our own house, well adopt a cockatoo!
I have had Hohenheim for about a month now. He now steps up for me and hangs out with all day until bed time or he is on his t perch. I've got him alot of toys and have rotated them to see if he would play with any of them and he just won't... They're a variety too. He's also been really cranky :/
I must add he didn't have any toys in his cage when I adopted him :/
Also he's about 10-12 months old, does that factor in anything?

Does his toys include foraging toys? Destructible toys? Toys with beads?

Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Parrots who were not weaned and fledged in situations where there were not a lot of toys have to actually be taught how to play. You are going to have show him how much fun it is to destroy say a paper toy or others. Sounds bonkers, right, like all parrots should know how to rip wood toys apart or forage for treats in a forage toy, but no. Human raised parrots have to be introduced to these as a part of the weaning/fledging process at the breeder or you have to do it. If you have a selection of toys all ready, let him see you destroying them and having a WONDERFUL time doing it, lots of laughs and giggles, and shrieks of joy. Salty was a little bit like that when we got him, but Amazons have a innate drive to destroy toys and stuff ( to me at least). Once I showed him that paper was fun to rip up and some wood ( soft balsa ) was great to chew into toothpicks, he was off an running.

Wrench is exactly right...many breeders, unfortunately, don't move their babies into a "weaning cage" from their brooder situation, but rather just move them into a large cage with nothing inside it but food dishes. Weaning-cages are set up with many different types of toys, perches, bowls and dishes, foraging activities, ladders, etc. And when a bird isn't introduced to toys, they don't know what they are or what they are supposed to do with them...And if you got her at 9-11 months old and the cage she was in at this point had no toys in it, then it's pretty obvious that she's just never had them and has no idea what they are, or what "playing with toys" actually is.

You just have to show her slowly how to play. She'll figure it out, but she has to be taught first...

Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I only met BB once, the day he came home with me :D He was 4.5 months old and the breeder said he and his three siblings are ready to find new homes.
He was on a table with four sides to it with his three siblings and there were just a couple toys on the table. I never saw him when he was in a cage so I don't know what was available for him to play with.
I bought a number of toys to hang in his house, put on his roof top,and hang outside his house. One toy had a bell and ball with paper streamers hanging from it,and one is a set of shinny dice.

It took him maybe five days to totally destroy the streamers:eek: He ripped them to shreds! His dice are now his favorite toy. At times I can hear him slamming the crud out of them and yelling at them while frantically waving his arms. After he shows those dice who's boss,he whistles and sings to them..silly bird:D

I agree, play with the toys in front of him,and make all kinds of happy noises/sounds telling him how much fun your having. He'll get the idea sooner or later.

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
also another idea that I did would be to get a food that is sticky, like a split open raisin and stick it onto the toy or drop some seed inside so they have to manipulate and play with the toy to get to the treat inside
