It's been more than a week since we got Joey
And few days after being in a large cage (compare very tiny cage he was on while he was on the Petshop) he change his behavior
He doesn't want to be handle anymore to go inside his cage.
And I think I make the stupid mistake of opening the top so he can go up and down the top perch so now he thinks he doesn't need to go inside
And if he doesn't gets want he wants he squeal!

So I trick him to go inside his cage few minutes ago and will to do reward his for good behavior starting tomorrow but he will be off from the top perch for a while until I change his behavior!
Is that the right thing to do ? Anymore suggestion?
Thanks a lot.

If you can get him perch trained, it would make it a lot easier to put him back up. I had problem doing the same with my too until I got her perch trained where she would step up to a perch whenever its held infront of her. It makes everything so much easier and neither one of us is stressing during back in cage time.

I agree, it may be easier for the time being if you stick train him first. Once you can get him stepping up onto a perch, you can start going from cage to perch to inside the cage, then give a treat. It's all about routine. I have also learned that it is a lot easier if you take the bird out of the cage(either with your hand or a perch) and then put him on top of the cage. The way I do it with our bird is pretty simple, she steps up and then goes on her cage, if she doesn't, then she doesn't get to go on the outside of the cage until she does. It only took a few times of asking her to step up and closing the door for a few minutes until she realized that that was the only way she was allowed on top. Now she knows every morning that she has to step up on my hand first, then she gets free roam of her cage. After that, I leave the doors open so she can go in and out to eat or nap as she pleases. Since you have dishes on top of your cage, you could probably use the coming out to play method for going back in as well. It shouldn't take to long for him to learn that he has to come to you to go in or out of his cage, they are surprisingly smart animals :)
