Mishka Hand Language "Potty"

Mishka has never had a problem using the potty, from about 6 months old.

He used to say Mishka poopie, when needing to go, when outside the cage, but no longer. Till about a month ago, when he began biting me. Thankfully he no longer bites me.

When sitting on my lap, I place him on the potty +- every 15 minutes. Lately when training him (talking) I try picking him up, telling him Mishka must poopie, he lowers his head and refuses to move.

For the last three nights, I have not asked him if he wants to poopie, seeing what he will do.
He now walks onto my other knee, kisses my hand, then I place him on the potty and he poopies.

He is now using "Birdie Hand Language" to communicate when needing the potty.

Good boy there Mishka. Proud of you

Sometimes when Rosie poopies she looks back at it and says Poopie. She is good about going on the toilet rim. It is so easy to train them if you are consistent.

He was so upset with me earlier. I had to go to the dentist, mentioned to him I was going out.

When returning home, he politely asked me.....

Mommy where did you go? I said to the dentist

He replied ..... oh shame mommy .... why mommy why

I can't help falling more and more in love with him every day

It is soooo incredibly amazing how you can talk to Mishka and really get to know how he feels. I wonder if that is how Sarah's feels when I go to school...well all she says is hello in fifteen different versions and a fun pack of noises!

I hope that maybe one day you can post a vid of him welcoming you home.

I wonder if this is natural but Sarah ony poops in or in the one foot radius of her cage. And sometimes, whenever my dad picks her up. She can not communicate she has to go, but she starts getting bouncy and screamy.

Oh and this is a bit of topic, but your floors look beautiful! Great job!

Mishka seems like an AMAZING companion!

Hello HELLO Hulloooooooooo,changing their voices, high pitch to low pitch

I will try vid Mishka tomorrow morning, and leave the video on, I have to fetch something from the garage.

When your bird gets bouncy and sceamy, I am sure that is an indication she needs to poopie. Watch her tail feather, normally they shake them, before relieving themselves.

Thanks ..........floors are cleaned about 4 times a day

OMG I can imagine Mishka in front of the camera all day, he would be in his element, showing off.

My memory card is huge. Once let it run the full course, it was for 40 minutes, Mishka sat and chatted for 38 minutes non-stop.
Two minutes remaining, he poopied then had a drink of water.

I got the dogs to do it on command, cant be too much different , right ??

I reckon it is easier to potty training a bird
(the poopies are smaller and do not smell)

Mishka was approaching 3 months; I decided he was old enough to go onto the potty. Being stronger and more stable now, was the perfect time. A big bonus was he understood the meaning of the word “poopie”. I placed the potty next to the newspaper, then touching the “potty”, saying the word “potty”. After many times of relieving himself on the newspaper, he eventually walked over to the potty and began playing with it. While he continued playing with the potty, I touched the potty, now and again, repeating “poopie in potty” After two days, when nature called again; I picked him up, and gently placed him onto the potty. I was curious not knowing what he would say. I remained tight lipped. He sat there quietly, for a few seconds, and began squatting. Soon after making his little bomb, he proudly said “poopie in potty”

You wouldnt even need to use a memory card. Just a webcam setup that people can log into to view. It wouldnt be recording and saving unless you wanted it to, otherwise just a live camera. Mishka would get his own reality show!

We all loves Mishka Mishka Mishka!

That is some great potty training there. I can't tell you enough how he amazes me at how smart he is.
