Patience is necessary. Each Grey is different and some never go beyond a few words. Some will whistle and make all sorts of mechanical noises

I have never tried to teach my birds to talk... they just pick up things I say a lot...

I do love their body language, though... :D

Well I can't help sorry. But it may or may not be hard to teach him to talk. He's still young so good luck

Our first Grey, Paddywack, liked the sound of my voice even though he was bonded to my wife. He liked certain sounds, especially the "rrr" like in Girl. He loved to say "Good Girl" "Rat Dog" and actually would call himself "Rat Bird" with emphasis on the R. He would not talk when people were around, but if you were in another room, he'd talk continuously.
Our two new Greys, both under a year old, are picking up household sounds and whistles. Bindy, our CAG, has learned that I respond to certain whistles she makes, and will repeat them even when I'm holding her. I just keep reinforcing those sounds. Babu, our TAG, is still experimenting with sound, though he screeches happily to see me. For him, I'm very careful and softly make a noise back to him, saying "Hi, Babu."

Talk with Antoinette. If you have not seen her videos of her CAG Mishka she posts then you need to. She has a link on her signature.

I just got Solomon, he is 11 and the only word he says is hello in the previous owners daughters voice... but he whistles and makes all kinds of sounds....

Kawie is 16 and "mainly" only talks when I am not around. Which of course makes me feel like he doesnt like me cuz he will talk when my wife and kids are in the room. But I think its because I sit right next to him all the time. Lastnight I sat across the room and was watching TV and he started talking so I think its only when he feels no one is paying attention to him. He has been with us for 4 months now and has picked up quite a few new phrases that he did not say prior. So you never know!
