do conures get more cuddly as they mature?

Just curious as when we picked out JJ she was pretty sweet and liked to be scratched but when we picked her up she didn't want me to but I figured it was from all the excitement because she was also playing with some macaws that were hanging out on the table.

I was just curious she doesn't want to be petted at all hardly and I didn't know if it's because she is new and doesn't trust us yet or this is just how she is going to be? She loves to be out with me though(I just told my husband "guess i'm gonna have to get used to doing everything with a conure on my arm") If she doesn't want to cuddle that is fine though but I didn't know if this sounds like a stage she is going through from being new to our house?

She is still new and it takes them time to adjust to new surroundings and build trust. Parrots are prey birds in the wild, so instinctively they have their guard up. Work at her pace, and it'll be just fine. You're off to a great start if she's already stepping up on your arm and hanging around you. Some birds refuse to even come out of their cages for a while.

Thanks! Well she would stay in her cage if I just left her but the breeder suggested we coax her out. She does come out and loves it once she is out though. She likes to sit around on my arm while I go about my day.

I have had Cracker, my GCC, for about two years and I would say he seems to grow more affectionate and trusting the longer I have him. I think parrots (at least GCCs) are like a good wine, they improve with age.

As she gets older she will turn more orange and or red.
