Does anyone have this problem?

My little Gcc is obsessed with my mouth. He tries to "sucky face" every evening before bedtime. I know it isn't healthy for him so I keep my lips sealed shut but he tries so hard to get inside. He just tries to tongue and beak never bites. However sometimes when I try to get him on my finger he gets angry and fusses at me. Then he gets nippy because he doesn't want to stop. Just wondering if others have incurred this problem. He is just so sweet and gentle it is actually very sweet. Just wondering if there is a reason or hidden meaning behind this behavior.

If he tries to go for your lips/mouth just move him away. He'll be getting frustrated because he can't get what he wants from you.
This could either be mating behaviour (trying to feed/expecting food) or begging behaviour. How old is he?

Merlin tries getting into mine/other half mouth when he's hungry and for whatever reason doesn't have access to his food (room without dishes, etc) So when he does that we know he's hungry again and needs his food :).
He gets VERY nippy if he doesn't have this - similar to a person being cranky because they're hungry.

Could he be doing the same thing?

Lol, Loki does something similar with Hubs almost nightly. Loki often attempts to regurgitate during that time as well. Hubs just keeps his lips together and Loki then contents himself with picking at the stubble on his chin. Loki also fusses and tends to get nippy when we try to remove him when he gets like that. I think most of it with the mouth itself us curiosity.

Yes, our 4 month old sun conure, Boomer does this a lot. Besides his short kisses, he likes to nuzzle our lips. I'm also concerned that we might transfer bacteria to him if we don't keep our mouths closed.

I've heard of begging for food and regressing to baby habits, so I'm now concerned if the best thing is to keep him from doing it or to allow him. I heard for 3-4 month old parrots, it's important to feed them if they beg for food otherwise they could suffer psychological damage later. Any truth in this? Sorry if it seems off topic but I think there could be some relation to the kissing behaviour.

Forrest is a year old and I sort of agree with Katherine, I think it is more curiousity than anything and just another toy. Glad to know he isn't just weird.

I've read somewhere, long time ago that says our saliva might harm our birds in someways. Something like our saliva have bacteriasthat are totally stranger to our birds system. So a little precautions on kissing and sharing our food with them. Having said that, it is cute when our friend birds likes to kiss us.

My birds drink after me  They eat food right off my fork or spoon. My vet hasn't said anything, but did scold me for allowing them dairy  I can't help it, Loki goes NUTS over yogurt!

I have been worried about the saliva as well. I keep lips sealed and don't let him in.
There again he eats off my plate as well. Shares all my food. He doesn't want his own birdie plate because our plate does fine. I think that has really formed a great bond with him. Sometimes he gets mad if we try to eat the part that he is munching on at the time. It has become his in his mind. LOL He loves yogurt too. He loves to suck milk out of cheerios then spit them back. I know the dairy thing but it is so cute. I usually try to hide from him while eating cereal so he won't be tempted.

If we don't want Loki to have something, we literally cannot eat anywhere in his vicinity. It's one of the reasons we're glad the cages are in our bedroom! Sugar drank actual milk last night, like grabbed a hold of the glass as Hubs was trying to drink out of it and was insisting on it, by attempting to pull it towards her. TOO funny! I don't recommend it, but I do a lot of other things to ensure their safety. No candles, no incense (which is KILLING me, btw), no avocado's/chocolate/coffee (OMG, Loki tries to drink my coffee! THAT drives me insane!) and no alcohol despite the fact that Loki goes balistic over beer bottles. Seriously, he has to be locked in his cage if Hubs has a beer! Just seeing the bottle makes the little guy go crazy. I figure, if he was going to die from my saliva, it would have happened already as much as he eats and drinks after us :p And he was just at the Vet's and checked out fine.

Our green cheek loves to give kisses. She usually greets us with kisses and even loves to snuggle up with her beak next to my lips and falls asleep. She's not regurgitating or attempting to mate. It appears that she just finds the closeness comforting.

Guava goes bananas for beer!! Of course, we only let her have a few drops worth. For her size, that's plenty enough for a buzz.

PS: I'm totally pulling your leg. We do NOT allow her to drink beer. She sure does try, though!!
