Hi Everybody,

My conure seems to be fine. She is eating and playing okay. But often I hear her sneezing. The temperature here is pretty warm. I am giving her fruits, veggies, seeds etc. Should I be worried? Should I take her to the vet? I mean it sounds like sneezing but there is no discharge. What do I do?

Birds.occasionally sneeze, could be clearing their nares or even allergies. If their is no discharge then just keep an eye on him. If it continues, gets worse or has discharge other than clear take to vet. Make sure he continues eating too and isn't lethargic.

Sandybee has some great advice. I would say that you should also monitor his or her droppings. What bedding are you using? I prefer to use recycled printer paper that is clean white. It helps me to notice any changes in my birds droppings. You most likely already know that birds do not like to show they are sick. Any thing you can do to see symptoms before it is to late should be used.

The other things I would suggest is watching for temperament changes. An example of this is if your bird is usually a bit cautious of you, but suddenly he or she just doesn't mind you petting his or her head. Any of these subtle clues can be used to determine if something is going on.

Is your conure near a drafty area such as a fan or vent? While the temperature there could be fairly warm, the draft could be kicking up dust.

Thanks a lot guys for your advice. I am using newspapers as bedding. The printer paper advice is great. I'll use that thanks. She seems fine today and is playing, preening etc. She is still a bit cautious when I am around her cage. :)
She is not near a vent. But there is a fan but it's not near her. Thanks again!!!
