Two green cheek conures Fruitloop and Hedwig and two budgies Baka and Pocky.
SO i had to pull a few of the baby conures early because they weren't letting the newer hatchlings eat enough and there was constant crying of hungry babies while the greedy gusses just kept gobbling. (seriously thing1 is sooo much bigger then even Thing 2)I had to leave the light in their room on till midnight so they had enough time to get everyone fed.9 babies and two eggs are alot to handle even for this unusual family. Petrie was verry cranky when the sun came up at 6 and the babies wanted to eat again. So Thing 1, Thing 2, and Peeps and Squeaks are in the brooder now. (those are just placeholder names until they find their forever homes)I pulled them this morning right after feeding time getting Petrie Hotrod and Isaac out of the way was umm... interesting XD But didn't take long. I was worried about them being mad at me for taking their babies away, but the next time i went it was if nothing had happened.

I did have to call my vet after i pulled them though because they all looked like they had distended bellies. She told me though this often happens with parent fed babies somthing about more pieces of solid food being passed from parent to chick. And since all of the babies looked like that she said not to worry unless it didn't start going down. Which it has.

The first feeding went well though i had to reheat the hot water in the bowl holding the food bowl because i took to long being careful. second and third went better. They where having None of syringe but, eagerly took to the spoon so spoon it is. Easier to clean anyway just drop in a pot of boiling water after washing. though much messier babies.

Already i can see bits of personality. Squeeks is very delicate when she eats (no idea on genders) while thing 1 feels like hes going to shake himself apart. Peeps wants to be cuddled all the time and Thing 2 is a wanderer.

I did have a bit of a scare this evening. This morning it was nice and cool in the house. Good for humans not good for baby birds in a brooder. I had to put my heating pad under ti to help it keep the temp above 88. they seem to be most comfortable with a 88-91 temp right now. But i didn't think about the after noon when it gets warmer in the house so about 45mins after i fed them i start hearing all of them chirping. I was like you cant be hungry again and i go and check and it was 100 inside of the tank they where on. It went up so quickly it had been 87 after i fed them. So i scooped them up and set them on the towel spread out on their feeding table. They settled down quickly and started the huddled back together. The brooder soon got back down to the proper temp and None of the babies had any burns or anything. Though peeps didn't want to be put down. Lesson learned though Keep and eye on the room temp as well as the brooder temp.

Anyway sorry for the long post. and sorry for the lack of picture My puppy ate my transfer cable. Im not even sure how he got it. But i should have a new one tomorrow and ill put the pictures up then. The babies are sooo soft and being moved didn't seem to faze them either.

It's a lot of work isn't it caring for all the baby chicks.....I've been doing it for years but I do enjoy it quite a bit. Can't wait to see pictures! :)
