Too much veg?

Hello, I was wondering how often should I be feeding skittles veg? I give her the occasional bit of fruit but not every day. But with veg I try and provide it for her everyday at lunch time, is that about right? Should I be doing it every other day, or more? I just want to make sure she's being fed right.

She has 24 hour access to pellets everyday, with a sprinkle of mixed seed. Then at lunch time I give her an assortment of vegetables for her to munch on till satisfied and every so often ill give her a bit of fruit.

If anyone can think of a better feeding routine or if this sounds okay I'd appreciate any comments

I don't personally feel like there can be too much when it comes to veggies. (Though my birds are on a diet of 90% veggies, fruits and legumes.) It does, however, depend on the system you're using. Some pellet brands will advise that you keep fruits, veggies and such down to a certain percentage each day. But I don't think there are any that would say you had to cut back to every other day or anything like that.

Sounds good and healthy to me. A lot of people provide chop every day for breakfast or lunch, which is the same thing youre doing just in a chopped mix of assorted veggies and some whole grains. You may want to look into that for simplicity since it is super easy and you can make a bunch at once and freeze it and heat up a little bit every day. Some veggies like spinach you dont want to give too much of because they cause less calcium to be absorbed, but it is great to offer fresh foods every day. Be happy she eats veggies, some birds are super picky!

Everyday is best for sure. You could also give some fruit each day, but the larger proportion should definitely be veggies.

Thank you to everyone for the response, I'm glad I can continue giving her plenty of veg to munch on as she's definitely not picky! She'll eat absolutely anything she can her beak onto (which isn't always good when I'm eating something that's most certainly not for her

)

I just had a little worry because i read somewhere about this woman who reckoned she had killed her bird with too much veggies and it made me panic a bit!

She definitely didnt kill the bird with too much veggies, its possible she fed contaminated veggies or veggies that werent washed correctly and had pesticides though.

The more veggies, the better!
By eliminating some risks, perhaps you can buy organic veggies?
I only give Kiko organic veggies so it helps minimize that risk of 'poisoning', at least.

Peppers are a great source of vitamins AND they're easy to offer.
Common wisdom is that parrots have such poor taste and smell that hot peppers really excite and stimulate them. And they're very healthy (lots of good green and great nutrents)! So I give the Rickeybird lots! The only downside... when he eats a pepper, then preens, then wants to cudddle, it's a very incendiary experience.
I buy several kinds...
Poblanos, to stuff the end between the bars tightly (above a perch) so the Rbird can nibble at his leisure.
Jalapenos and Serranos, to toss into the cage's snack-bowl, to trick him into entering so I can shut the door. It's the only way I can get his flighted majesty in!

Sorry for late response! Oh yes, she loves red chilli peppers I make sure she gets plenty of those

I haven't tried the other options though so I'll get some and no doubt she'll like it as she does with everything else. It's exciting giving her new stuff and then watch as she slowly ignores everything else because the new food is now her favourite of all time... until something else comes along!

I try and make sure she still the rest of her veg though, otherwise no pudding!!
