Albie has become very bitey this evening.

This morning was great, we had snuggles before work, and worked on step up too. I have a nanny cam so was watching him through out the day, he ate drank bathed slept and played..

Then this evening he's been a tiny terror, chopping my fingers at every opportunity he gets. And he biting hard, he drew blood on me. We've been putting him in time out and ignoring him, and not reacting to his biting even when he drew blood, just a very calm no biting and placing away from me. I'm clearly doing something wrong and I don't know what. Hes also biting my hubby too.

We opened his cage to let him come out on his own. I'm not forcing him to be on me or near me. I'm feeling a little deflated. He's sat in his cage wanting to come out and chirping at me, but my fingers can only take so much.

It makes you feel anxious when they do this. Connie was a bit like that thismorning,on my shoulder,put my hand up to scritch her head,hackles went up.....and chomp! I put my hand down and ignored her,though she stayed on my shoulder. Then suddenly all forgotten,quacking,grinding and soft tweets in my ear! They really are like naughty kids.
Albie will soon get over it Im sure, hes still very new and getting to know you,things will improve.

I would echo that it’s very normal behaviour and nothing that you are doing. He’s a toddler, getting comfortable in his new home and testing boundaries. Be consistent in your response to biting, he will get the idea eventually. In the meantime.....I used flesh coloured bandages on my fingers to cushion the blows, and with one of mine I wore a hood tied tight for 2 months because she had an ear biting fetish. You’ll get through it, just remember that he doesn’t know that it hurts you. There’s tons of great threads in the conure forum on biting and bite pressure - which should also tell you “it’s not you”

We had same predicament with our Kiki. We got her in the end of Nov 2019. She was 8 weeks old, cute Lil bugger too, but man did it hurt when she started biting.... As time went on & after getting advise from this group she has slowed down her biting. She's learned that we don't put up with it. Back in her cage for @ 3 mins for time out. She does play bite with us but we tell her when it starts to get out of hand. They are very active parrots I think too. It is fun to have them be interactive with you. Just wait it out, it's worth it I think..

Thank you everyone, i really thought it was something I was doing (a lot of reading and videos says you the human are always at fault of a bite) but if he's just testing boubderies, I can live with it.

He's really sweet most of the time and he is most definetly worth it.
