When Terry asked me about coming back to Parrot Forums, I promised her I'd give an update on everything that has happened the last couple years, but realized with how I babble, I'd be here for days and who would really want to read a probably not too short novel about 'stuff'. So figured I'd do some posts about different topics that have been popular with our AHW family / friends.

One subject that I get regular requests for, about and how to, are pinwheel toys that I have been making for our babies as well as the shelter babies. Birds literally from budgies to the macaws love these things. You can make them with thinner materials for the little guys, add some hefty materials for bigger guys and we add them onto other things like toy buckets, mats and the big guys who get something similar to an activity tray, but we use things like large plastic toy shovels.

Here is the video I made the AHW family and another group that kept asking me to do a how to. Also lots of photos for suggestions and variations. I've been making these for many fundraisers for various shelters, fundraising groups and emergency situations like the recent Georgia hoarding situation. So birds across the country and even Canada have enjoyed these. Bird tested and approved!! The only heads up is if you purchase foam sheets, be careful where you purchase, the cheaper foam sheets tend to have a very strong odor, so you want to spend the money and get your sheets from places like Michaels. Even then, open up the foam sheets, fan them out and put them someplace like the garage or away from the birds to 'off gas' for a few days, they just smell from manufacture and packaging.

See told you I babble!!! Anyway, hopefully this is something that is helpful to anyone thinking about making toys that are fun shredders but actually quite easy to create.

Sweet! Thanks for the DIY demonstration, Jen! Your step-by-step instructions are easy to follow, and I especially love the versatility of these toys! This is great even for people like me who aren't necessarily talented toy crafters like you or Victoria.

Thanks again!
