This year I made and decorated houses for the birds. All bird friendly goodies, although I did include some peanuts which they don't usually get. They are finished and in the bottom of their cages. Ziggy is scared of his but Buzz is hard at work destroying his.

Good grief, yet another Thread that I am going to have to block my Amazon from seeing!

What a great project, but once they get going on them, do you rap them for over-night storage? Aaaa, the houses not the Parrots. :D

Neat idea and well done!!!

What is the icing and gingerbread made from? Typically I thought something like gingerbread would be too sugary for birds (and it can't be standard icing... Can it?).
Cool idea though, I'm just curious about it.

Actually the houses are in a clean corner of their cages for now.

The gingerbread itself has molasses and since I make my own it isn't really made sweet, more for stability. The frosting is sugar and I've been watching to see if it will be a problem. So far they have no interest in it because of all the goodies that are on it. That may change as they run out of things to tear off and if or when that happens they are done with them. My son gets to smash the remaining house and the gingerbread becomes dog treats.

That's really cool! And I'm sorry I didn't say in my first reply but they look amazing
