Eclectus
Hey guys i have a 6 month old male eclectus called scotty.. He has bought an unspreakable amount of joy into our lives.. He is a very happy and playful bird.. He is currently driving us crazy with his wolf whistle we taught him and is also very very close to saying hello, he is getting there its just not quite clear yet.. We take him everywhere with us outside and visiting family which brings me to my question.. when and how should i go about worming him.. Can anyone reccomomed a particular product.. i have read a good way to do it is mix some into his passionfruit.. any suggestions would be great

I didnt realize that pet birds needed to be wormed~ I guess if you had an outdoor aviary or breeders then you may need to~

I'd take him to a vet and see if it's neeeded.

Why would you worm him? I'd take him to a vet if you think he has worms.

becandsam, it's not recommended to worm a companion parrot. I don't know if you have heard of avian vet Bob Donely he was from Toowoomba. He wrote an article about worming parrots, he suggests to have the birds droppings checked under a microscope, if no eggs are found then your birds don't need worming.

My best remedy of worm preventer is to give my eclectus hot chilies every day. In 20 years i have never had to worm my parrots, using this method.

Our top veterinarian here in South Africa Dr Brent Russell, recommends de-worming birds that live indoors.
Mishka is given 10 ml of MEDIWORM POWDER, mixed with his formula, through a syringe. Given 2 x annually. Distributed by MEDPET
I have followed this procedure for 4 years now, and will continue to do so.
