I could used some experienced advice on feeding Emmett. Since June, Emmett has not been himself. He was diagnosed with having high negative gram rods and was treated with Baytrl for 2 weeks. He's still not talking (and he used to--a lot) and his urates are low in his poo. I'm waiting for the results of a follow-up gram stain.

I don't know how he was fed before I got him, but I suspect he ate seed. He has black tips on his feathers.

What frustrates me is he really picks though his food and I can't be sure he's getting the nutrients he needs. I know how important fresh fruits, veg., grains and beans are, but if he's not eating it, it's not doing him any good. Should I be giving him more pellets and if so, what kind do you recommend?

No, Eclectus don't need pellets for their diet, which gives them all the nutients that they need as long as you give them plenty of veggies & fruit along with green leafy ruffage or greens. Sprouts are good to although Mac doesn't care for sprouts that much. Eclectus can have seed as part of their diet, but it needs to be minimul.

My problem is that he doesn't eat much of what I give him. He refuses all the really good stuff like leafy greens, broccoli, carrots... That's why I was considering giving more pellets if I can find one he'll eat.

my suggestion is to make a mash with baked sweet potato. mash the potato up good, then add small bits of greens, corn, shreded carrot, shreded beet and cut up beet leaves, etc. Ekkie's love the sweet potato and will usually eat anything mixed into it. My girl was on a white seed only diet when i bought her. she also had the dark places on her feathers. I simply took the seeds away as soon as we got her home. She instantly enjoyed the fresh food, and her feather appearance had gotten better within a few months.
