Cardboard (empty paper towel rolls)

Is it OK to give them paper-towel cardboard rolls to chew on?

It looks like most have a bit of glue around the roll so that's why I'm wondering if this is safe or not.

I was once reading a parrot training book, and on a side caption it had a paper towel roll and said "some paper towel and toilet paper rolls have lethal glue on them".

I use to use them with no problems at all, but since reading that I stopped. Lots of people use them without any problems at all and the risk is probably minimal.

I use the toilet paper rolls for my Sennie and P'let. They love to chew them.

I use them for all my birds I scrape the glue off first and they really dont have much on them anyways.

I save all paper towel/tissue rolls and give them to my budgies.. My eclectus isn't interested but the budgies like to tunnel through them and chew them from the inside out

the glue that is on them is toxic and can kill your birds, Kimberly clark put out a warning for bird owners , im sure i read that in one of the post on here

Thanks, scraping the glue sounds like a good idea to be on the safe side, I'll dig up some sandpaper.

the problem with scraping is what about what has soaked into the roll, it may not affect ur bird then again it may do the worst thing of all do you really want to take the chance, look up the old thread about the rolls.

Thanks, I read some info about this and it's not worth the risk or unknowns so I won't be giving him any paper towel rolls to chew on.

I ordered a bunch of stuff a few weeks ago from http://stores.grahamsparrottoycreations.com/StoreFront.bok and so far he's liking those toys (especially the ones that combine wood and cardboard!)
