Half a bar cage spacing ?

Is it ok to have half an inch bar spacing for an eclectus cage because I'm buying this one

I can't see the link, but my bar spacing is an inch and it's fine. I definitely wouldn't go any bigger then an inch, I think there's concern that they could get their head stuck between the bars. And anything bigger might be difficult to climb around in.

Sorry, here is the link. The bar spacing is HALF an inch, so not even one inch.

Spacing looks perfect
I am impressed when holding the cursor on the pic and moving it around you are able to see the two sides and the front clearly.

Just as large cage bar spacings are hard for small birds, small bar spacings are hard for larger birds.....

One half inch spacing is almost too small for my Patagonian conure, her 5/8" spaced cage is better and 3/4" would be about max for her.....

When trying to size cage bars for birds, if you measure the two outside toes on each foot, from the nail to nail, where they meet the flesh, you can tell if a cage is going to be right.....

Similarly, you can use that measurement for determining perch rod diameters.....but, you want to measure nail tip to nail tip and assume perches half to 3/4 of the tip-tip dimension to be OK.....

So you'd really be against half an inch bar spacing for a cage? Is it possible I can make it up by adding ladders and such around the cage?

Ladders mounted flat to the cage sides could work, but if you start angling them out, you start losing space quickly.....

This weekend I brought my outdoor cage inside (1inch) and my outside cage in (3.4 inch). Maui is definitely having to get used to the smaller spacing. The larger spacing seemed easier for him... But he is having a blast with this new adventure. I will most like bring the other cage back in in a couple of weeks due to the play top. He loves the play top.

Something else to keep in mind.... larger parrots may be able to break the welds and wires of smaller cages.

Although this is pretty extreme, this is a good reason to make sure that you get not only the appropriate bar spacing but bar sizing for the species you intend to place inside the cage.
