Gizmo - Male Eclectus Parrot

Pebbles - Female Eclectus Parrot
One thing with having two Eclectus Parrots, well at least with having Pebbles and Gizmo, is when it comes to toys, you have to have two identical toys, otherwise one will think they are missing out. I've had times where I have given them a red bottle lid and a black bottle lid (coke and zero), and they will argue over who gets the red one:rolleyes:

Today I decided they might have fun tearing up a few toilet roles. Here is Gizmo trying to hold it with his feet, but it's just the wrong size, he tries both feet and eventually after showing some frustration, he drops it.

Of cause that's not the end of it, although I picked his up and gave it to him again, eventually when he dropped it, he has a solution:

They're both beautiful birds Cameron! It's funny watching Raven and Griffin grab toys away from each other, and back and forth until one drops it lol.

Usually the fiery redheads aren't such push overs! Beautiful birds!
Amen! With Maya, that would've kicked off World War 3! Hahaha!

That 2nd video truly cracked me up. There was simply no delay. The thought of taking hers came to him immediately! Hahaha! I love it!

It's funny, I thought the male must have been the dominant one for eclectus parrots until I started hearing about everyone's pairs.

Pebbles is a very sweet and gentle bird, and generally she will just let him have the toy, or fly away when Gizmo is invading her space, but she is a smart girl and can be very stubborn when she decides she wants something. Fortunately Gizmo is a chicken if there is a true confrontation, so I haven't had to break up any true squabbles. It hasn't happened often, but when it does, it ends with Gizmo saying "No" as he backs off, it's very funny and I really have to struggle to not burst out laughing.

The worst bit is, after he gets the roll off her, you see him pause with his head turned for about 5 seconds before he picks the roll up. He is a dirty fighter, he does this all the time, he is waiting for her to try and pick it up, and then he will have a go at her, his other favorite move is to go for her tail feathers as she walks away.

Fortunately so far it's all been fairly light, but he still earns himself a lot of sin-bins, and he has learned how to say no about 7 different ways etc:rolleyes:. The hardest bit with putting Gizmo in the sin-bin, is Pebbles wants to play with him while he is locked in his cage:D

Cheers,

Cameron
