Molting in 6mth old???

My lil parrotlet has lots of feathers, she's been getting new ones mostly on her head and neck. Is this molting? or is she just getting more feathers in? she's itching her head on everything, she preens herself and pulls out lots of little fluff. her attitude has drastically changed also, very aggressive all of a sudden.

Sounds like molting to me, they tend to get a bit grumpy when they are uncomfortable. Try bathing and/or misting once or twice a day until she is more comfortable.

Seems like the molting has finished, she is a little more happy. She still launches an attack at random. I've had to stop handling her for a few days cause she pierced my lip through and through. She asked for a kiss and i obliged when she got me. Now when i take her out she flies at my face to attack. She was up for adoption due to her angry bird behavior, i thought that with more attention and a bigger cage she would come around but she hasn't. I feel horrible that she can only interact with anyone for less then 10 min before she attacks, she will even come off her playground to get someone. Anyone have any advice? I never intended her to be a caged bird all the time, but with her level of aggression I'm afraid she might be heading that way and thats not something i'm ok with.

She has reached her terrible two's. It's what I call it at 4-6 months, and it's 100 % normal and it will pass. She is uncomfortable, and therefore irritable. Give her a bath daily and some space. If she were my bird, I would clip her wings and give her an attitude ajustment. Parrotlett are aggressive lil freaks. I love the way they will stand up to a full grown person, animal, inimate object without hesitation. Stompping around like a lil dinosaurs, shaking their heads (well that's what mine does anyway) heehee. They do not like hand clapping, crinkle paper, or even snapping. They will get in your face and tell you all about it. I wouldn't allow her on your shoulder or anywhere near open skin right now, and no kisses until she goes through this time of her life. Mine transitioned rather quickly, but she is still a moody lil thing.
