Hi, I'm Charlotte and I just re-homed a blue indian ringneck male yesterday of a woman who didn't really take care of him, he's very nippy and scared and squawks whenever you go near his cage, he hadnt eaten much since we got him either. He's never been let out of his cage which I think has also made him very wary of coming out. He's nearly 2 and hes called Olly. Well can anyone give me some advice on how to tame him, I know it will take a lot of time and patience and we have that for him, but birds we've had in the past were babies when we got them and they had been hand reared so its all new trying to tame a scared, nippy bird.
Also can indian ringnecks chew through chicken wire? My rabbits have a huge 12ftx6ftx5.5ft run that we could make bird like oth perches, toys and hide houses and he could go in there when its nice out, but that's only if they can't chew through chicken wire!
Thanks in advance :)

Aww, well done for taking him in, and I am sure he'll love you for it soon enough.

I'm only new to owning Bobby. We've had him three weeks. And it's taken lots of time for me to gain his trust. I've never had a bird before but he's so smart its unreal.

I'm home at 3pm so I spent lots of time talking to him. At first he wouldn't let us near the cage without flapping around. Even taking the food and water bowls out was tough. But after a week he started to settle.

Just take it a tiny step at a time. There are loads of good videos on training. I've just recently got a clicker for Bobby and he's started to learn about how I want to use it with him. :)

Good luck and you'll be fine just baby steps.
