Hello everyone! So I have a couple questions if that's okay

So I was recently given an indian ringneck bird but the person who gave it to me didn't even bother to ask any questions about him so I'm having trouble with him :(

I'm assuming he's about 8 weeks old but I could be wrong.

I have him in a little box with hay & he's starting to chew on the hay & his poop that I might have missed to take out. Does that mean he's ready to be introduced to fruits, veggies, & seeds? At what age will he completely eat solid food?

I tried feeding him his formula but he keeps rejecting it. I read that it could be because of temperature so I'm going to buy one. If temperature is not the problem could it be that he only wants to eat once a day now?

I could appreciate all the help I could get!

Oh dear it sounds like you may have been given a baby bird that is really too young to have been taken from it’s parents or breeder. What type of bird is it anyway? Unfortunately this happens an awful lot and without help your bird may not survive. You should take it back to wherever it was bought from for them to finish weaning it properly onto adult food, which may take some weeks, or enlist the help of a professional bird vet. Whichever one you choose you should do it NOW. Selling baby birds like this is unethical and irresponsible and endangers the life of the bird and we see far too much of it here.

I wish you both the best of luck!

Oh sorry! It's an Indian Ringneck. I totally agree, I'm actually trying to find the person right now! I'm hoping the picture I posted shows up but I'm still learning how to use this, I made the account today. Thank you so much!!

That's a very pretty bird you have there :) I'm glad you're trying to get some help. One of our members who is a breeder of ringnecks has written a very comprehensive guide to help new owners who've found themselves in a bit over their heads, along with all the reasons why it's not a good idea to take baby birds that are so young (although I know this bird was a gift to you!)

And if you are having trouble finding a vet perhaps the following link will help ...

or...

It's a pretty crazy time out there right now and I do so hope you are able to get some help!

Is that bird really that (or too) young?

I'm actually not sure, I'm still looking for the breeder. He's starting to fly though and there's a picture of him on the post above.
