Trying New Foods

So im wanting to find better food brands for my macaw but he is really picky. I usually give him macaw food from walmart. He likes any of those brands. He also likes fresh fruits and some veggies. But i wanted to give him something better than the macaw food at walmart. So Ive been buying some different foods here and there trying to find something that's more better that he will actually eat. Now i just recently bought some different fruits and nuts from the site Nuts.com. he doesn't like the fruits dried fruits and veggies from them and certain nuts he isn't eating either. So my question would be how to convince him to eat different stuff? Or is it just foods that he will not eat even if i tried some way to get him to eat them? Is there types of food that your macaws like that maybe i should try?

I have noticed with my picky 'too that if you present foods when they are hungry they are more prepared to 'try' them. Offer new things first thing in the morning and see what happens. If a hungry parrot still refuses something then take that message IMO. Obviously you still need to have their usual brekie ready and waiting.

My birds tend to only try new things if either I or another bird is eating them. Because of this I've eaten my share of pellets xD. I'll present new fruits and veggies in a small bowl and pick out of it and have my bird watch me eat it.... THEN he usually wants some. I don't yet own a macaw (awaiting a hanhs) but this seems to work really well with a GCC (who then teaches my budgie). Might be worth a shot? Eating is a social activity, after all. (And heck, I could always use more fruits and vegetables in my diet!!) Just remeber to not let birds eat off what you are eating. No sharing pieces. Human saliva is bad for birds.

Oh my goodness I love my Hahns! He is quite a character and every day at dinner time he will fly down to my shoulder and attempt to eat what I am eating. I love the little guy! At dinner time I make dinner for us humans and a separate bowl for the Fids. So we literally have four birds on the chair (between us) all chowing down on their meal while we eat lol.
