- "Chica" 15yr Female Blue and Gold Macaw
Hello from New Hampshire!
We just got our first dusting of snow today and Chica has been growling at the plow trucks driving by outside.
Oh yeah, I am owned by a gorgeous & mellow 15yr old female Blue & Gold Macaw. Currently I am working with her recall & flight training (indoors of course) she's my spoiled snuggle bug. She is also harness trained, crate trained, and while not very noisy does occasionally make an evil laugh or say hello & wave.
I got her as a rescue about a year ago & I must admit it was a decision well made! I look forward to meeting and hearing everyone elses "bird stories"
I also have 2 white doves, had kept an Indian Ringneck parakeet for about 6years (The ringneck is with a friend of mine now & living it up in my friend's new house)
I am also a reptile enthusiast and have worked to start a rescue specifically for reptiles & amphibians in my region for unwanted/neglected pets. Like birds, reptiles share many of the same conservation and habitat issues... which is why I am also working on incorporating Chica into some public education programs.
